Hey! Who wants to watch me get beat up?

I’m the one with the red gloves in the white shoes.
In all fairness, the guy I’m sparring with has been boxing for a lot longer than I have and has around 7kg on me. And those gloves are heavier than they look (16oz).
Boxing’s fun but man, my neck is sore.

My favorite part is around 0:50 where I prance away.

Moved MPSIMS --> the Game Room.

I’ll give you credit for stepping up and initiating contact, you had him backing up a good portion of the time, but he got in a lot of combos and bigger shots.

I’d score it 10-9 for blue gloves.

Good God, man, keep your guard up! You were constantly dropping your hands. No wonder your neck is sore when you leave your chin wide open like that. You didn’t look too bad, though, just need to tighten up and keep your hands from constantly dropping to your waist.

You don’t look too bad - you’re working the body and you’ve got a good shoulder roll.

Your partner does have a few pounds and some experience on you, but good on you for sparring a heavier, more experienced opponent. I’d second that that you really need to keep your guard up and tight, but I know you already know it because you mentioned it yourself at the bottom of your video (and I know it’s easier said than done when you’re tired, fighting an aggressive opponent, and wearing 16 oz. gloves). Other than that, I’d add parry more, work more off of your jab and throw more combos behind it - again easier said than done when tired with 16 oz. gloves, I know. Again, though, not too bad!

I think the most important thing, Grey area, is that you look like you’re having fun. You’re fighting neither scared nor cocky - just having fun. I like that. Keep it up and you’ll get better.

Yeah, second that too.

Thanks for the comments you guys.
Yeah I usually don’t drop my guard as much but man, I was tired. That was around the 3rd round or so and I am not a professional boxer (obviously) so I really don’t have the conditioning to fight too long. Stamina is probably among my biggest problems. I can’t guard because I’m tired. I can’t throw combos because I’m tired. :dubious: Even for a hobby boxer I have shit stamina.

Like everyone else I was really struck by how low you’re holding your gloves. I know you’re tired but holy moly, you’re really holding them low; it looks partially like habit, not fatigue. Twice you sort of stop fighting entirely, each time when moving to your left when the opponent backs away; someone could anticipate that habit and quickly come back in with an overhand right and put you on the canvas.

If you find fatigue is bringing your arms down, try to at least keep your left arm up, even if the right drops, since you’re fighting righty you’ll at least have your lead hand in a defensive position, but it also shortens and quickens your left jab, which keeps your opponent from coming in as fast.

But you know that. ** Now watch your feet**. Because that’s where exchanges start.

On the positive side, for a guy who was tired you were really moving your feet nicely. Your feet never really stop moving and although the other guy looks bigger and has the energy to keep his hands up, I’d say you controlled the ring more than he did; he does spend more time in the center but his efforts to corner you never work, as you’re doing a nice job circling to your left and varying the distance constantly.

Watching the video, especially from 0:20 to 0:40, my perception is that you are noticeably faster in moving from the push to the set position than your opponent is, which is why at about 0:28 the initiative suddenly swings in your favor; twice in a very short span, his feet are open to you when you are set, and he is unprepared for contact. At 0:55 this reverses, and he has the upper hand, In boxing,** feet are as important as fists.** Except for a few minor lapses, though, you’re almost always in a better set position than he is, which is why, even being more tired, he never really could get you.

Wow thanks for the analysis RickJay, and you caught me. The low guard is partially a bad habit from watching too much Prince Naseem highlights on youtube. I should really just stick to the fundamentals at this level instead of getting my ass beat trying to do things that I am in no way qualified to do.
