We have an intranet discussion forum at work. On this we play the game by the name “Balderdash”
We have an oath all players must take before they can play:
On my honour
I promise
not to Google
So help me Mog
The fake submissions are sent via private message to the Dasher (who picked the word). Once collected the Dasher posts them all by number. Voting is done publicly. The Dasher is only awarded points if no one guesses the true definition (as an incentive to reach for the most obscure word he/she can find). We each take a turn at Dasher, then reset the score once everyone’s had their turn.
We’ve been playing for a couple months now with no sign of letting up (and all players’ post counts rise quickly too!)
Wouldn’t recommend it for SDMB for reasons already mentioned - but if you’re on a rather cloistered board that allows private messaging, it’s a lot of fun (although I had to coax and cajole all the players for the first couple of rounds until it got a life of its own).
