Do mass numbers of Yankee fans travel to games all over the U.S., or are we here in Baltimore just lucky that you’re so close by? (I went to the game last night, was surrounded by Yankee fans, and 'twas nice to hear some silence from them at the end of the game.)
Snicker.

Hey, I’m going to the game tonight! Be nice to have a 3-game sweep.
I just love it when we beat the Yankees.

But in the end, the Orioles are how many games behind the Yankees? 9.5? And they’re still under .500, aren’t they??
Snicker, snicker

The reason there are so many Yankees fans across the U.S. is because they win. For every longtime Yankees fan, there are about 10 frontrunners who hopped on the bandwagon back on 1996.
I live in a decidedly confused part of the country, halfway between NYC and Boston. Although many right-thinking people do in fact root for the Sox and World-Champion New England Patriots, many also insist on cheering for the Bronx Overpaid-Bombers and the dreaded Jets/Giants for some reason.
Does not matter. I’ve been an Oriole fan since way back in the late 60’s, and there has always been a rivalry between the O’s and the Y’s. It doesn’t matter what the team records are - both could be in the division cellar - as long as the O’s beat the Y’s, then that’s all that matters.
Should’a let Rivera pitch in the 9th. I think Torre blew it.
On behalf of Red Sox Nation, I concur: go Orioles! Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!
Well, Baltimore is always full of Boston and NY fans. It’s not uncommon for there to be more Sox fans than O’s fans at Camden yards during a weekend series with Boston, and I’d imagine it’d be the same way with the Yankees. It’s a short drive, a beautiful park, and tickets are plentiful.
Well, whateverelse I may be, I am NOT a fair-weather Yankee fan! I started rooting for them when the Mets were the darling of New York, the World Champs, while the Yankees lineup featured superstars like Jake Gibbs, Horace Clarke, Gene Michael, Jerry Kenney, and Ron Woods. The main source of fun was waiting for reliever Steve Hamilton to throw the “folly floater,” or for another pair of pitchers to trade wives.
So… given what I remember about Yankee life pre-1973, George Steinbrenner will always be okay in MY book.
Boston fans came out in droves when the Red Sox visited Dodger Stadium. They were very loud and proudly displayed their colors and loyalty.
It was nice to send them home disappointed when the Dodgers SWEPT THEM!!! Bwhahahahahaha!!!
