High-speed internet access for pay [NEED ANSWER FAST]

Long story short, I’m away from home and work and need to work on a project remotely. The hotel that I’m in has super crappy internet. A brief foray to Starbucks last night with the laptop allowed for fairly reliable, but still slow, internet access.

Is there still such a thing as an internet cafe or some place I can go to pay for high speed wired or wireless access and get some real work done? I’m in Ontario, CA.

Does it have to be from your computer, or can it be done at a different terminal? I know that Kinko’s and other copy-shops usually have some computers you can use for a fee.

I can use another computer if necessary, but it has to be a high-speed connection. I’m trying to call FedEx Office at the moment, but remain open to other ideas.

Who is your cell carrier? Can you find a local store and buy some sort of dongle?

I have not been there, but it looks like “The Grid Cyber Lounge”, in Chino Hills, 8 miles away, 15 minutes, might be what you’re looking for. It sounds like the kind of place that would offer high-speed, anyway.

of course, this only works if you have a car.

It doesn’t matter who his carrier is; he could go to Best Buy, Walmart, whatever and buy a AT&T or Verizon or whatever mobile hotspot (whoever has the best local LTE reception) and get prepaid data cards.

Thanks, all. I wound up using another hotel’s pay-per-minute business center. The connection was fine for what I needed.

Entirely a YMMV situation of course, but the primary hospital in our town has a guest WiFi setup that’s as fast as the corporate connection. I don’t know how much time you need or how often, but the coffee will be cheaper than Starbucks (and better).

Other than that, check with your cell phone carrier about getting a hotspot device that you can use anywhere.

A public library near you may have good speeds as well…plus it is free
