Hillary for president

Just am reading a new book called Hillary’s Scheme.
The author claims Hillary Clinton wnats to be President in 04 or 08.
He mentions her being drafted.
What is it and how can one do it if not officially in the race yet?
And does she have a chance?
What is good about her?
What is bad?
This should be a good debate.

I don’t think HRC will run in '04 and risk being beaten by Bush. She’d prefer Bush to win so she can run in '08.

Well, you can’t be “drafted” to run for office in the same sense that you can be drafted into the armed forces. The Democratic Party can try to persuade her to run, maybe even apply some pressure, but they can’t force her to run for President. If she says no, then it’s no.

Probably not. Hillary comes with alot of baggage, deserved or not. There is a significant portion of the population that wouldn’t vote for her unless someone on the order of Idi Amin was running on the other side (and even then, they might go to a third party candidate). It’s certainly possible, as there are too many factors to consider and the election is still over a year away, but, my gut feeling is no.

I’ll leave this to others to debate; as I have very partisan feelings about Hillary and don’t want to get into partisan bickering. However, I would like to remind people of her pledge to serve her entire six-year Senate term…

But then again- why not?

“Drafting” someone refers to a variety of things. Sometimes if a Convention is deadlocked (which hasn’t happened for a long time, and isn’t likely too this next election), then the delegates will select someone that wasn’t in the Primary as a “compromise candidate”.

Don’t expect it to happne, but I do admit that Hillary could be such a “compromise”. However, note- IMHO for the Dem candidate to win, s/he’ll have to be a Southern Democrat. Not a New Yorker, or a Yankee New Englander.

With a title like “Hillary’s Scheme,” you just know it’s going to be a balanced and objective look at the facts.

And what is it with right-wing political screeds in bookstores lately? Last time I went to Barnes & Noble, they had a half-dozen of 'em, like “Treason,” “Hillary’s Scheme,” and “Blinded by the Left” all on a table in the lobby. What, is the GOP that afraid of Franken’s new book?

Why is it that if Hillary wants to be president she’s “scheming,” but when GWB was scheming to be POTUS he was “called by God?”

It’s kind of like when a career politician is not of your party, he is “power hungry”, but when a politician is of your party he is “dedicated to public service”.

Sure you can draft. Here’s proof

Yeah, well I can start a “Draft Hillary” page too. That doesn’t mean that she has to run…

In this context the word draft means to demand.

If she runs in the primary and wins then stick a fork in the Democratic party; they’re done.
I do not vote along party lines but I do not like the current administration. Voting such a contentious person into for the leading ticket would be a huge huge huge mistake.

Oops…in the context of the military, it means to compel.

You mean she’s not the President?

my bad.

What - a Clinton lying?

Perish the thought!

Shodan

Cite that Hilary has ever lied about anything?

And it’s not like Hilary ever lied her way into an illegal war.

Diogenes gave the mot juste riposte to this, Shodan, but a question:

Is it your custom to judge people by what their spouses and relatives do? If you find a circumstance where Hillary R. Clinton lied on a public issue, it’s your privilege, and perhaps your duty, to bring it to light. But whether her husband did or not is hardly grounds to condemn her.

I would prefer not to see HRC run for President at all. I think she’s too controversial of a choice, and if given the party nomination, is likely to drive the voters into the arms of Bush III. (Anybody out there think that Jeb isn’t just waiting for his turn?)

I’ve been involved in a discussion on another board on just this topic, and I’ve had to admit I truly don’t understand why she is so disliked. Can anyone help out with this?

Why is she so disliked?
Because she has a fat ass(oh I am so kidding its an inside joke).

The book mentions her alleged anti-semitism, the Masri incident, her supposed support of terrorist organizations, the spitting on the Albany Honor Guard incident, and the Broddick thing.
It makes her seem horrible, were it all true.
I do not know, I’ve learned recently not to believe everything I read.!

Does anyone here like her politics?
What are they, anyway?

I thought you could only serve 2 terms? (light hearted dig at the portrailer of getting a 2-for when Mr Clinton was elected).

On the downside, she tried to socialize the health care system in this country. She admitted later on that it was foolish and needed to work it in “piece-meal” (don’t have the exact quote). Not sure if the pardon scandal will affect her but she has not completely endeared herself to the Party. There are a lot of anectodal stories that don’t put her in a good light and I don’t want to list them all (not interested in a Hillary hate fest).

Her good points: she is a good public speaker and is willing to use that talent to get elected. Her credentials are decent. She was a partner in a major law firm (handled White Water Investments) and she is now a SENATOR. She may still have some “victim” points remaining for putting up with “that man”.

I personally don’t like her and would never vote for her but I think she is cabable of racking up some votes.

She’s a terrible speaker. ‘you know’ and drones on and on…

Depressingly.

She sucks.
