Spending 2.5 billion creates jobs. ![]()
It is a life saver for many old media groups every 2 years. Or I should say, it is a regular gravy train for the same.
Yes, at $889 million by themselves, the boys count.
But yes both sides expect to spend possibly $2.5 billion.
Expected totals both sides together likely over $5 billion … previous Democratic “private” sources had predicted
1.5 2.5 … guesswork now really other than that it is a big number. Not to worry though -
Or more. Unless they conclude early on it is a losing cause. Then they divert more to Congressional races and cede the Presidential one.
Fear Itself you know what it is about. You cannot win without lots of money but accepting large donations is a potential wedge with the more progressive wing. So it is hoped anyway.
Absolutely. The best thing that could possibly happen in the US, other than not electing a Republican in 2016, is that Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas all resign or die before a Republican got to choose a successor.
Roberts, Alito, and Thomas on the R side, and Kagan and Sotomayor on the D side, are all young by SCOTUS standards. If Hillary serves two terms, chances are they’ll all still be on the Court when she leaves office. Here are their birth years:
1933 - Ginsburg
1936 - Scalia
1936 - Kennedy
1938 - Breyer
1948 - Thomas
1950 - Alito
1954 - Sotomayor
1955 - Roberts
1960 - Kagan
That 10-year gap between Breyer and Thomas is gonna be interesting. Assuming a 2-term Clinton Presidency, she could get to name 4 Justices to the Supreme Court, and her successor might not get to pick any, even if her successor serves 2 terms as sell.
But this shows why it’s so important to get Hillary elected, assuming she’s the nominee. She could lock in a center-left majority on the Supreme Court for a long time. But if a Republican wins and Scalia and Kennedy chose that opportunity to retire, that could lock in a 5-4 activist conservative majority on the Court for a good long while.
They can’t, because there ARE no reasons to vote for a Republican.
You know, except perhaps, for hating America.
(post shortened)
Ol’ Hillary, and her mega-bucks supporters and PACs, can claim that they will raise 2.5 billion dollars to insure Ol’ Hillary’s election.
AFAIK, that does not mean that Ol’ Hillary’s campaign will actually be able to raise 2.5 billion dollars.
The 2.5 billion claim alone should encourage those who oppose Ol’ Hillary’s to boost their donations to other candidates.
That’s what Democrats claim, and yet, the House and Senate are now under Republican, and Tea Party, members control. I guess the Democrat Party candidates didn’t convince the voters that they were the best politicians for the job.
Hillary is so hypocritical! This has convinced me to vote Republican.
