Hillary's concession speech

Very gracious sentiment which could perhaps be imitated by some of the members here.

I personally think that people here should be very careful about what they say going forward. Trump has bragged about how vindictive he is, and how he relentlessly goes after anyone who criticizes him. He’s thin-skinned, and takes every negative comment personally.

That would be a whole lot easier if I hadn’t already read his books, listened to his speeches, and understood that for most of his life his idea of the perfect deal was to say anything to get what he wants, then do anything not to have to pay for it.
Can you give me a good reason why I should believe he has suddenly changed?

I have every reason to believe he’ll have that chance.

What he does with it is entirely up to him.

Maybe he will. It’s gotta be pretty overwhelming to become president. Whatever you do is going to be written into the history books and you have to have that on your mind; if you fuck up, it will be known for a long, long time. That has to be some incentive to get things right.

If I’m not optimistic, I’ll throw up again.

If you have a dog that has a life history of turning on people and attacking them, do you leave it in a room full of children to see if that will change its attitude?

President Obama has also congratulated Trump and has vowed to work with him to ensure a smooth transition.

Gracious and presidential to the end.

i will be as open minded as the senate majority leader was with pres. obama.

I appreciate what you’re saying and don’t disagree. It does not bode well. But lest we become that which we abhor, it behooves us to respect the tradition of peaceful transfer of power in this democracy. If past is prologue, I have little doubt that Trump will step on his own dick again. Almost certainly well before his inauguration.

](/ccpa/)Facts do not matter. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can move on. To what, I have no idea, but you will surely be able to move on if you can simply grasp the fact that facts do not matter.

ETA: Or, fuck it, take Mrs. Conway at her word and give Mr. Trump the same chance that the GOP gave Obama. See how that works. /shrug

It’s a tough choice. Do we believe that Trump is going to do the things he’s said he’ll do? If so, then he’ll be a terrible President. Or should we hope that Trump has been lying to us all along?

He’s been lying. He never shows all his cards. Which way he goes is still a mystery but the last thing I expect is for him to follow his campaign rhetoric directly.

He has a baby bird clenched in his fist. Is the bird alive or is it dead? The answer to that is entirely up to him.
