Hillary's place in a Bernie Presidency?

In response to this thread, an almost as silly question.

Obama gave Hillary a cabinet post when he really didn’t have to, thus plumping her resumé nicely. (Isn’t he a nice young man!)

If Sanders wins, will he offer Hillary a position in his administration? Maybe she could be an ambassador to one country and Bill could be an ambassador to another country on the other side of the planet? Do you think they’d like that?

It always seemed to me that Obama’s giving Hillary a cabinet post was a case of keeping your friends close, but your enemies closer. Actually, If I had to make a serious guess, I’d have to assume there was some sort of backroom deal for her to support him in the general election, or at least not to oppose him.

I don’t think there was much chance she was going to oppose Obama. That would have cost her way too much party goodwill if she had been that petty and vindictive. I am sure she got the Sec of State job to raise her stature for this run.

In a Sanders administration I think she should be given the Grand Professor of Unicorns post.

I think President Sanders should name Hillary Sec. of State just to watch Republican heads asplode.

Or maybe, just maybe, he thought she was the best choice for the job. Naaahhh…

Yes that’s probably it. By wild coincidence, the lady who he just beat in the nomination, wife of a popular president, zero foreign policy experience, probably the next Dem nominee for President just happened to be the best choice for the lead in foreign relations. She was just “best choice for the job”. Yeaaaahhh.

No.

It could be that Obama appointed HRC because he sees her as a loyal and competent democrat, though even they have personal difference and don’t agree on everything still respect each others levels of competence, as well as understand each others agendas. He probably just thought she was the best candidate for the job at the time from a multiple of perspectives.

Or it could be a chance to marry the Obama fundraising machine to the Clinton political machine. We’re lucky they didn’t form into a giant robot and punch Godzilla into the dark ages or something.

Give her the post of Comptroller General. Then she can have the GAO calculate and publish how much money Congress spent on all those Benghazi investigations.

If Sanders beats Clinton, the Clintons are going to merrily run off and try to get richer than the Kennedys and Roosevelts combined.

Frankly Hillary is getting old and I think she will basically drop out of politics and spend time just giving speeches for big bucks.

BUT, Chelsea is a different matter. Sanders might be required to give her a job and help launch her career.

I bet now the Clintons wished they had had more kids.

The Clintons need a little humility. Unless Chelsea thinks she’s entitled to coast on her name, then if she wants a political career she should run for local or at least state office. George P Bush wasn’t too good to start out as a Texas Land Commissioner and also did eight months in Afghanistan as a naval reserve intelligence officer.

If Chelsea wants to be taken seriously on her own terms, she should get a job working in a war zone like George P Bush, or run for a state agricultural position or something.

Agreed. The win is different here. A Sanders win would be a repudiation of Clinton in a way the Obama win was not. The Sanders vote is much more anti-Clinton than it is pro-Sanders.

Sanders is running a no-compromise campaign to try and pull the overton window to the left. Obama still ran in the center. If Sanders wins, the Democratic party is more left that we thought, and putting a centrist in power would be a bad thing.

Obama chose Clinton to avoid fracturing the party. BTW.

Ambassador to Libya?

So you think he’s headed for higher office?

Who was obviously better, then?

I didn’t think the original was that silly…

However, Hillary “had a place” in Obama’s administration and decided that she had had enough. I don’t see her wanting anything under Sanders.

I hope they would each consider the other for VP.

I like Clinton and think she’d make a great president, but I wish she was more leftist than what she is. I like Sanders because he’s fairly left, but I don’t know if his policies will gain any traction with the GOP.

So, you’re thinking Hillary might be a closet Sandernista?

The way I hear it, George P. Bush is basically drawing a state salary while campaigning for his family. Why should any state office have to suffer in performance because of wasting a position on that kind of careerist?
