I think even pulykamell would agree that Red White and Blue was shit. But cheap. Back in the day it was 99 cents/6 pack cheap, versus $1.19 for PBR.

I had to quit drinking, but sometimes I think to myself, if I ever went back to drinking, I’d drink only PBR, the reasoning being that it tastes so bad, I’d never be able to drink enough of it to get drunk.

Question: One of my friends told me, long ago, that newbies referred to Pabst Blue Ribbon as PBR, but true insiders called it a Blue. As in, “Gimme a Blue”, and the bartender (especially in, ah, “rural areas”) would know what you were talking about. Is/was there any truth to this? Nowadays if I asked for a Blue I suspect that I would get a Labatt’s.

I live in Hipstertown (a section of Boston) and the local bars have it written as PBR on their black boards (for $6!). So either Boston hipsters are out of touch or “Blue” is so last month.
