Historical/military card or trivia game?

I need to find a present for my father-in-law. He has a lot of trouble hearing and has been receding socially, so we’re trying to find some games that provide mental stimulation and don’t rely on sorting out signal from the noise of family chatter. He likes WWII history and military information. Can you recommend a one- or two-person card or trivia game he might enjoy? Or, I don’t know, silhoutte spotting cards or lost-in-the-woods survival trivia games?

We don’t want computer games because we’re hoping to keep this social. We’ve ruled out strategy games like Stratego and Risk because nobody else in the family is going to want to play them with him, and role-playing games are out becauss of his hearing.

Thanks

Nobody? No military trivia games?

I wish I could help you but I don’t know of any military trivia games. I know of a few pretty decent military board games that other people might like but if he can’t find anyone to play something as simple as Risk or Stratego with him then he won’t find players for the games I have in mind.

I can’t find it online at the moment, but there was a military history pack you could get for Trivial Pursuit. I have it at home somewhere (parents gave it to me, I think it was part of the 'let’s try and make him not gay anymore strategy) but haven’t seen it for quite a while.

Don’t leave us in suspense Antinor…did it work?

Search eBay for ‘training card’ to find old card deck training aids.

You might also try the card game “Chronology”. It’s not strictly military, but has a wide range of historical references.
