Historical question re. western conversions to Buddhism

Being American, in history books and classes I remember hearing about the conversion of Asians to Christianity , especially the Chinese. I understand Asian mysticism has been popular among weterners for years, but when was the first recorded conversion of a Christian westerner to Buddhism?

Looks like it really got started in the 1850’s with western travelers to Asia, and with Asian immigration to th US.

Theyre impossible to compare. One doesnt neccissarily convert to Buddhism, it is merely a way of living your life and viewing the world around you, and not mutually exclusive to Chritianity, many practice both. Christianity on the other hand is a religion and unless you are very talented, one cannot effectively worship multiple gods in a monotheistic religion.
