Historical Recreations You'd Like to See

A friend of mine and I were talking tonight about the Saturn V launches and how we wished we could have seen one. Now, it would be possible to set up a Saturn V and fire up the engines not enough to launch it, just enough to give one the feeling of what it must have been like to be there when one lifted off. And while it’d be tremendously expensive to do so, it’d help to recreate a moment in time.

Anybody else have a historical recreation they’d like to see?

Allways thought the Sodom and Gomorrh historical recreation society would be fun.

Cheers, Keithy

Krakatoa.(sp?)

I want to see the Minoan civilization of ancient Crete brought back to life.

Helen of Troy.
Rrowrr.

I’d personally like to see the charge of the light brigade. I know where to get some Russians, and I can probably convince them to down vodka and crew artillery. If only I could find some upper-class British who don’t know what the word “grapeshot” means to charge them. Perhaps a polo team could be tricked into filling the role…

I’d be interested in being able to play golf on the Old Course at St. Andrews, as it was laid out in the 18th century using 18th-century equipment like the ol’ “featherie.”

Oh, not that kind of recreation. Well, I still want it though.

Actually, Duke that qualifies, since you’re not only looking at the golf course, but experiencing it as well. Supposedly, the noise from a Saturn V was enough to turn your insides to pulp if you were too close to the launch pad, we can no longer experience hearing a roar that must have sounded like God Himself shouting  and I wish that we could.

I want to walk down a city street in the Roaring Twenties or the Depression.

I’d like to take the Saturn V launch idea farther, and actually return to the moon! This would prove a whole series of points, and would be a more worthwhile project than bombing Iraq.

Would you be willing to settle for a trip to Mars, instead?
