History question about Sri Lanka and Afghanistan

I have a paper coming up and I’m still in the thought process can anyone help with the possible questions:

What were the serious conflicts in Afhanistan and Sri Lanka? What were the causes of conflict

Open a damn encyclopedia, for God’s sake. It’s not that hard.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Afghanistan

Those wikipedia entries have flaws - for example the Sri Lanka history ( not directly linked ) makes no mention of the Chola conquest and the Afghanistan history fails to lay out the Islamic conquest properly ( eastern Afghanistan was in fact just about the last large chunk of territory that fell to Islam in the region - the Turkish dynasty of the Shahis in Kabul didn’t except Islam before the early 800’s and even then in 890 they were overthrown by a resurgent Hindu dynasty that ruled for close to a century ).

That said, I have to echo friedo a bit - you are asking an awfully broad question. Not to mention questions that, superficially at least, aren’t linked. Are you just looking for a suitably juicy topic to work with? Both will do as studies in conflict, believe me.

I’m really shooting for Ethnic conflicts within the country… sorry to ask so broadly, I should have been more specific. An example would be conflicts that occured over language.

Just so you know, the popular sentiment here frowns on students using the SDMB for homework help. In case you were wondering why the first response in this thread snarled at you.
