Oh, sure, no American has ever heard of a school prefect – that is, except every American who’s ever read Harry Potter.
well from the trailer, doesnt it show a scene at the Restaurant at the End of the Galaxy? Thats what I thought anyway, so I’d gather they’re slapping at least those two books together.
As for Marvin… I dunno. I got a def. Marvin the Martian sort of sulkiness in the few images.
I can totally see that little billardball-headed critter slouching off in the corner whining on and on.
Why, specifically, are rappers inappropriate for any character? What, specifically, about rap excludes those who perform it from playing aliens badly disguised as Brits?
What, exactly, about him not flawlessly understanding the concept of a School Prefect disallows from meritoriously playing a character with a name chosen from a car with a name based off the word? Given that few, if any, Americans, got the joke in the book anyway without it being explained, how could there possibly be a problem?
No, it will probably not be explained in the movie. BFD.
Well, if his movies make boatloads of money, maybe Hollywood will loose it’s current fascination with turning TV series into movies, or making sequel after sequel of really crappy movies, and perhaps just make something slightly more original in the future.
You know, maybe they’ll take a chance on something for a change.
There are a couple alternate trailers up. Here’s a trailer narrated by Stephen Fry. And here’s the British version of the trailer where you get a glimpse of Slartibartfast. I’m getting too ridiculously excited for this movie. I think casting Sam Rockwell as Zaphod is genius. Mos Def, I’ll wait and see but I love his towel kung fu stances in the trailers. With Alan Rickman doing Marvin’s voice, this is a veritable “Galaxy Quest” reunion.
I like the British trailer. (even some Journey of the Sorcerer riffs)
The other alternate trailer was good also.
hopefully the movie will turn out to be better than mostly harmless.

Yeah, I was just looking at the soundtrack to the movie on the Apple Music Store, and saw that they included a newly-scored version of Journey of the Sorcerer on the soundtrack.
Seeing as how I saw the TV series before I’d heard of the books, hearing the theme again just made my day. And that plus Zooey Deschanel (who’s dreamy) are enough to make me really excited about the movie.
