Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Movie

I just watched “Dogma” again, and I have to agree that Mr. Rickman would be perfect for Marvin.

Christopher Walken would be a perfect Max Quordlepleen-- Friendly and charming, yet completely insane.

I’ve always pictured Slartibartfast as a sort of clueless wizard, so Sir Ian would be be perfect, methinks. Either him or Tom Baker.

Maybe it’s due to my seeing that silly Kevin Smith flick, but wouldn’t Salma Hayek make a great Trillian?

I don’t really think much of Hugh Grant, but I agree that he’ll be good for the role of Dent. He’s good with those confused, bewildered and lonely characters and should be able to manage Arthur Dent’s dry sarcasm pretty well.

But I’m really curious as to how they’ll pull this movie off. It’s got me pretty excited though.

I’ve thought of Conan O’Brien as Max Quordlepleen lately. I think I remember Max being described as tall and gangly and such, which Conan sure is, and I happen to like him best of the big three Late Night hosts.

If they dare cast either Hugh Grant or Jim Carey the boycott campaign starts here.

Bruce Campbell as Zaphod! Bruce Campbell as Zaphod!

Bruce Campbell as Zaphod

Hugh Grant was pretty good in Love, Actually.

Most of that cast (with the exception of some of the younger set) would be good for a HH movie.

Forget who plays Dent, Zaphod or Prefect, I want to know who could be cast as **Mr. L. Prosser. **

One of my all time favorite little interesting side characters in literature.

For some reason I’ve always pictured the guy who played Boogeror another character acter (American) who is snide and weasley, who’s name I’ve never heard and I can’t remember a damn movie he’s been in. Hope that’s vague enough.

I found this site . Kinda interesting for brushing up on HHGTTG.

Thank you for the link S.U. Can anyone find a good link to get the latest HHGTTG movie info?

God no. Jim Carey? NO NO NO, that is the worst possible choice. He’d foul it up for sure. Sure, he’s kinda funny sometimes but his glory days are over.

I dunno, though, I’m not exactly sure how good a movie would be. The books are cool enough.

Eric Idle would make a good voice for the guide.
I still have no idea for any of the main characters. They’d need to be someone who acts like their character normally so you don’t get a sense that thier are acting. I can’t think of anyone who matches the descriptions.

I just hope and pray that they get someone remotely intelligent-looking to play Trillian. That baby-voiced bimbo from the TV show was an awful choice.

And here’s another vote for Eddie Izzard as Zaphod. FanTABulous!

Rowen Atkinson annoys me, and I wouldn’t mind Hugh Grant, either. He’s not nearly as nauseating as the idea of Jim Carrey!

Izzard? Casting perfection.

What about Colin Firth as Arthur?

And help me out with the name of the character who makes it his mission to insult everyone in the world. Just for comedy’s sake I think Gilbert Gottfried or Wallace Shawn would be great for that part.

Colin Firth is way to yummy and delicious and boinkable as Arthur.

What about, non-Brit Owen Wilson, except he’d been tooo droll. And then we’d need Jackie Chan in there some where.

If they actually made HHG into a film, the cast would have to be more ensemble. Jim Carey doesn’t work well there, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Gilbert Gottfried is a perfect Wowbagger.

Howyadoin,

How about Bob Hoskins as Dentarthurdent? Too old perhaps?

Eddie Izzard as Zaphod, right on…

Hugh Grant should soooooooo be in the movie. He’d be perfect as Dish of the Day.

Ever since I saw him on Whose Line, I’ve always envisioned Paul Merton as Arthur. He’s pretty much how I’ve always pictured him: tall, bumbly, and with the occasional bit of really good sarcastic humor.

I know Douglas Adams was working on a script while he was alive and heard that the version he turned in was “absolutely horrid”. I kind of figured that the project would fall apart after his death, though.

My picks -
Bill Pullman as Arthur Dent (if you’ve never seen him nerdy, check out “Sibling Rivalry” with Kirstie Alley - a surprisingly good film, actually.)

The rest don’t fit with Bill Pullman, but I think he would be the perfect Arthur Dent, so I don’t want to kick him off my list.

Seth Green as Ford Prefect.

Ryan Reynolds as Zaphod.

Claire Danes as Trillian.
