Hitler vs. al-Baghdadi (poll)

Who is more evil, Adolf Hitler or Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (ISIS overlord)?

I choose Celine Dione, Mistress Of The Sinister Canadians.

When the body count rises into the millions, we’ll talk.

I’m wondering on what grounds al-Baghdadi could possibly be considered as evil as Hitler. Even if he has aspirations to convert or kill all non-Muslims, he’s still very far from Hitler in accomplishing that goal.

Forgetting body counts for a minute, instead basing it on core beliefs, intent, and the length of time these said beliefs & intents have existed, dare I say it but I’d put radical Islam ahead of Nazism any day. Just my opinion.

BTW, for those who don’t know Hitler actually made deals with the Arabs based solely on their mutual hatred of Jews. Didn’t seem to bother the Arabs that Hitler literally (and openly) considered Arabs to be barely a half click above the Jews on the Nazi racial ideology scale…

“My enemy’s enemy is my friend” is a time-honored proverb in that part of the world.

It sorta seems like we’re doing the same triangulation between ISIS & Syria’s Assad today.

I would venture to suggest otherwise. Islam has the tradition of allowing subjugated peoples to live in their lands. This, obviously, isn’t always followed, but many Muslim cities have had significant Christian and Jewish quarters. The Nazis, in contrast, searched out and killed Jews with obsessive efforts. There wasn’t even the chance of a “dhimmi” option.

If Israel were conquered, there would be a massive killing spree, but even then, it would halt short of the complete annihilation of every man, woman, and child that the Nazis sought to engineer.

Do you have any actual reason to believe that there was any particular enmity between Arabs (or Muslims in general) and Jews before the state of Israel was established on Arab lands, or are you just one of those ignoramuses who thinks that just because they are in conflict now, they must have been at war for hundreds of years, rather than just since 1948?

As to the poll, it is evil.

Well, to sort of edge the question, there was enmity brewing before 1948, during the early Zionist era, when large numbers of Jews emigrated to the Holy Land and bought up large amounts of property. There were some notable cases of anti-Jewish violence in those days.

My enemy’s enemy is my enemy’s enemy–no more, no less.

That applies especially to the ME.

ISIS are just a bunch of thugs, the Schutzstaffel makes them look like boyscouts.

The Nazis were Teutonic pragmatic opportunists. Antisemitism was just one part of there plan in placating the German people, seizing & holding power, and conquering Europe & Asia. Although the Nazi state was officially atheist Nazism was no more a ‘religion’ to the average German than Marxism was to the average Soviet. And it only lasted about twenty years and was exposed, crushed, and condemned as the amoral, hate-based, murdering, exclusionary culture that it was. Even to this day Germans maintain a certain level of shame about it.

Islam is also exclusionary, to an extent hate-based (you’re always a Muslim first, a human being second), subjugating, and strictly intolerant of any distension. And its been around for over 1500 years, has a billion and a half followers, has never once apologized for atrocities made in its name, maintains its exclusionary stance to the point of violence, and has/is proud of these aspects.

On the grand scheme of things which do you think is a greater evil?

That’s not exactly true; many Imams have apologized for the excesses and atrocities made in the name of Islam. There was a wave of this following the recent beheadings.

About the only way I could vote against Hitler is if I consider the fact that he’s dead, so he’s not really evil anymore.

They weren’t merely exploiting anti-Semitism for political means nor was it incidental for Nazism (some may have, but the higher ups and Hitler certainty weren’t). It was their entire reason for being, that Judeo-Bosheviks had betrayed the heimat in 1918 and could never be allowed to again. Their anti-Semitism was not conductive to warmaking and carving out lebensraum either, from the earlier work of their Einsatzgruppen in the east to the gas chambers, it was a colossal waste of time and effort.

Nor was the Nazi state ‘officially atheist’, this is an old slur against atheists. Hitler mentioned the almighty many times in public and in a private statement said “I believe in God, and I am convinced that He will not desert 67 million Germans who have worked so hard to regain their rightful position in the world.” The Wehrmacht belt buckle had on it the old Prussian motto “Gott mitt uns”; God is with us. The army’s oath of allegiance to Hitler began “Ich schwöre bei Gott diesen heiligen Eid”, I swear by God, this holy oath. To claim that Greater German was ‘officially atheist’ like Stalin’s Russia is abject nonsense.
