I know this has been discussed, but if you care even a little bit about Half_life 2 and you have broadband I strongly urge you to go to Fileplanet now and get the ~600mb gameplay movie. It is absolutely amazing.
I am also looking forward to Doom III and Deus Ex: Invisible Wars, but nothing will compare to Half Life 2.
I have never been this excited about an upcoming game. Never.
I couldn’t get it off the net so I had to use Kazaa. It was definitely worth the time. There was this one part where he was chased by a soldier into a building and he PUSHES A TABLE TO BLOCK THE DOOR. You could see the bottles falling over and rolling off. The soldier tries to open it a few times but it doesn’t budge. All of a sudden, he kicks it in and the table comes flying toward you followed by a wall of lead. And this is only the first cool thing that comes to mind.
How about when he uses the magnetic gun to pick up a radiator and throws it up the stairs. It kills an enemy, then damages a soda machine and soda cans come cascading down the stairs. And none of this is scripted!
I don’t know why, but the thing that got me most excited was when one of those wierd flying ships with the big fan in the back is hovering over a street, and you can see the powerlines whipping back and forth in the gale. Totally small, insignificant detail that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I was already completely impressed by the time they got to the Pachinko machine
I didn’t even play the original Half-life, but I’m sure I’ll be buying this one. I just hope my computer will be able to play it well. Did anyone else notice the gameplay getting a little choppy on that demo?
Keep in mind that the demo was played widescreen and probably at a fairly high resolution with lots of eyecandy on, and the game may not be completely optimized yet.
