HoF managers tainted by PEDs

So, you’re just married to that non sequitor, then? Unwilling to admit that you got mixed up for a second and kinda forgot what we were talking about? It happens, you know, there’s no shame in it.

And I don’t think that “Hey, it’s not the STUPIDEST thing anyone’s ever said around here” is the best line to take…

Yeah, I’m guilty of ALOT of those stupid things!

Once again, a non sequitur. You said that the reason a manager might be tainted was because “steroid use went on under their nose.” Why is it less an issue if they ignored steroid use by non-HoF players?

Pretty low standard you’re setting for yourself there.

And, y’know, it’s not really necessary to post everything that pops into your head. It’s good to think about it first.

And when you’re in a hole, it’s better to stop digging.

Why I came back to defend myself: I’ve been called out b4 for not doing so.

But, etv, you’re not being called out for not defending your position. You’re just doing a bad job of defending it.

This is probably the best thing anyone has said to you in this thread. Take it to heart.

I can imagine the subject coming up in La Russa discussions, but like most I expect he and the other obvious managers will still all go in. I do believe that prominent players with credible links will be denied.

I can understand people who just assume almost everybody was on something. The problem is do you give a blanket rejection to all the players of the era, or do you just ignore it. I am not sure justice can be given to players on an individual basis. Some did not get caught. Perhaps some are innocent. How can you tell now?

There has to be a middle ground, somewhere on the “ignore it” side of the spectrum. Everyone had access and no one was testing - who WOULDN’T juice to save their multi-million dollar job? Everyone knows the era that people were juicing, and people are capable of putting those records in perspective, especially considering that cheating has been a part of the game since its inception.

Who wouldn’t take something that would make them a professional athlete or a better one if you are a pro ?. If there was a drug that made you better at what you do, would you take it? Just watch the TV and see how many drugs we sell to enhance daily life. We are a drug infested society.
When Canseco and McGwire were taking steroids ,it was not against the rules and they did not test anyway. The league was complicit . You will not be able to convince me the team and league and the trainers on the team were not aware of what was going on. The players were well aware of the drugs.
Mcgwire pointed out the Andro on his shelf to reporters, because it was a legal substance. It started the roar that took him down because we pretend drugs are dangerous to our children when athletes take them, yet don’t think parents with a medicine cabinet full of over the counter medicines don’t send a conflicting message.
