"Hollywoodland" -- the other unanswered question

Watched Hollywoodland last night with my sister and BIL, and all three of us enjoyed it very much. I thought Ben Affleck was excellent, as was Diane Lane. I thought the contrasting stories were both interesting, and was more or less okay with the fact that they didn’t really choose one of the competing explanations for Reeves’s death. (Esp. since I could come here this morning and find this definitive post on the subject.)

The other question we had at the end of the film was – what was going on with the Adrian Brody character at the end? Was his appearance in a suit and tie an indication that he was rejoining the “straight” world and getting a regular job? Or am I being dense that I even need to ask?

(PS: The woman who played Reeves’s mother looked really familiar to me, it was driving me crazy – looked her up on IMDb this morning – turns out she played Jack Nicholson’s sister in Five Easy Pieces, which may or may not be where I know her from – she was also on “The Doctors,” in the mid '70s, a period when I was watching said soap.)
