Holy Cow, a Chuck Shumer ad: Tales of Non-Competitive Races

I am in the same congressional district. He took over Tom Davis’s old district when he retired. He is probably too liberal to win a statewide election.

I am also getting a lot more advertising for for the Bennett Comstock race than my local race. For a while i couldn’t tell who the Democrat was because they both festoon their campaigns in blue trimming. I guess this is OK because 10 years ago the Democratic candidates from that district would dip themselves in red paint before leaving their homes.

I live in Ohio and I am seeing LOTS of advertising, about 75% for the Presidential race and 25% for the Senatorial race, where the incumbent Rob Portman ® is being challenged by former governor Ted Strickland (D). Most of the Senate campaign ads are for Portman. I think Strickland’s funding is running short, and it’s not looking good for him. It appears Ohio will probably split with Clinton winning the top of the ticket but Portman winning re-election to the Senate. As for the Congressional race, this district is so red that the incumbent R, who won in a special election only a few months ago, hasn’t even had to advertise. His opponent is a brave soul who simply didn’t want to see him win unopposed.
