Holy mother of... Well. I just saw the future. Opinions, please...

This thing is turning tires into oil. Oh, and medical waste, sewage, and turkey guts, too, into a light sweet crude. Just amazing! Anything that is carbon based gets broken down into the proper chains on a molecular level. It can derive oil from Anthrax spores.

They aren’t being sold on the open market yet, but I will definitely jump in at the IPO!

What say ye?

O

High octane is people!
Put a turkey in your tank!

I wonder how efficient the process is, though… is the 11 tons of materials, 600 barrels of oil and 21,000 gallons of water pure profit, or do they have to burn another couple hundred barrels of oil (beyond the fuel oil they’re creating and putting right back into the system)? If that’s all profit, that’s pretty good.

Sounds good. Sounds amazing! I’m reading the article now. With the proper air scrubbers and odor control at the facility, this would be a winner! I just hope it’s not cost-prohibitive.

I’ll let you know if my opinion changes after finishing the article.

I read the article in the magazine and heard about the process on NPR. It’s a pretty interesting prospect… though I am still not sure how it will affect the environment. We’d still be polluting the air with exhaust - but I like the fact that we’d be finding a great use for all those turkey guts!

Wow, if this isn’t pie in the sky and it delivers what it promises it changes everything. I hope this isn’t the new cold fusion.

Well, I gotta say color me impressed. Another doper threw this into GQ, so let’s see how it holds up there.

Holy florkin shnitzil.
I read the articles and I must say, its pretty neat. But I am weary of it. The thing doesn’t have a single downside. Yeah right. It never states the amount of energy needed or the cost to maintain the equipment.
I’m not exactly buying the reduced global warming bit. Your still burning oil and that still makes CO2, right?
If it does work I am more than all for it. If it can truely do all it says it can the worlds going to change. Landfills will suddenly become a resouce and the world will start getting cleaner. All you’d have to worry about is nuclear waste (CANDU reactors perhaps?) an non-carbon based waste.
Cool.

Hunh. That would be pretty cool. You know, assuming it really works. I would like to know more about what’s required to make that puppy run.

For some reason, I have this vision of Christopher Lloyd throwing a banana peel under the hood of a deLorean, though. And my first unbidden sick thought on the subject is that there better be some good guards at the feeder end of that thing - “I have a little list; they never will be missed…” or “So your friend, the little guy… that was him in the chipper, yeah?”

According to the article, they have an 85% efficiency rating. That means for every 100 gallons of oil produced, they burn 15 to generate them.

[eyebrow] Fascinating! [/eyebrow]
