Holy shit! I'm opening for Dj Logic tonight!!!

Crazyness. This guy is amazing. I am bringing my turntables, will spin from 9-12pm, and then Dj Logic is going to use MY DECKS for his midnight set. Probably doesn’t mean anything to alot of you, but I am honored and trying really hard not to do the happy dance all around this bank!!!

Of course, this means I’ll end up with about 6 hours of sleep for the whole week as of tomorrow, but I’ll sleep when I’m dead I guess.

Wow. It’s crazy how things go sometimes.

Congrats, Mr. DJ!

So we won’t see you tomorrow? :frowning:

Thanks, Pucette. I fear this does eliminate me from the festivities tomorrow. If I do make it I’ll be halucinating and incoherrant from lack of sleep . . . which could be entertaining, I suppose.

Dj Logic? You sure he’s not registered here? What a cool username that would be.

Congrats Mr. Lovin’ Man. And watch out for those strobe lights. I hear they give you epilepsy.

Congrats! Can you divulge any particular artists, tracks you’ll be playing?

Very cool! One of my best friends (I’ve known her since we were babies) is good friends with Mr. Logic. I’ve never seen him in person but I hear he’s pretty darn good!

Congratulations and enjoy your show!

Thanks for the kind words everybody!

Biggirl, strobes may hurt your average human, but they make Dj’s stronger .

The Scrivener, Sure. I’m thinking some sublime, some Mos Def, some Biggie, some Studio One reggae, some dub beats from Augustus Pablo, some Run DMC (peter piper), some Dee-Lite, some Tribe Called Quest, some Eminem, some Audio Too, some Schooly D, some Mr. Vegas, some Beatjunkies, some Beasties, some Blackalicious, some Blackstar, some Lordz of the Underground, some Beatles, some Uplifters, some Gorillaz, some Marrs, some MC Lyte, some Mobb Deep, some Sister Nancy, some Chacka Demus, some Portishead, some Squirrel Nut Zippers, and maybe even a little Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller.

Congratulations!!! DJ logic is great!!! I have many discs of him performing with my favorite band, moe…
That guy goes for hours on end without taking a break. I don’t know how he does it. Hope you have fun!!! Let us know how it goes

That’s so sweet, dj! I have a few of DJ Logic’s songs, and he’s awesome. I love the things you said you’re thinking of playing. Should be great! I hope all goes well, and have a great time!

Way to go! Sounds like your star is rising. Will he be around for your set; is that why you are nervous?

He’s quite the innovator. The turntables are truly a musical instrument under his fingers. I caught him with MMW when they were in town and it was deeply funky. The super jam he hosted at a recent Jazzfest was also sweet - I got the DAT, me likey.

May I humbly suggest some Pizzicato Five? I always figured that would be fun to hear in a club mix.

I counted a grand total of four off your list in my own CD stash. Jeesh, when did I get so old?

I guess I’m interested because I’ve had the keen pleasure of “DJ-ing” (no tables; just playing CD’s) at a couple of parties thrown by friends. My mix: a judicious blend of classic R&B, alternative rock & Brit-pop, and “art” rock/pop, with smatterings of other things (trip-hop, classic rock, classic funk, instrumental surf, etc.) thrown in for good measure. No complaints so far…

Again, congrats & good luck tonight!

Where and when?

DJ Logic? Damn. I don’t know these East Coast boys… but I’m more into the psytrance/goa end of things.

Not to hijack, but when you say “decks”, do you mean turntables, or CDJ’s? Just curious… I’m not one of those purists who thinks it ain’t sound unless it’s vinyl.

Rasa, Decks are the turntables. Vinyl all the way. Heavy as hell, but worth it. I’m a purist myself.

Mojo, Tobacco Road on 41st at the corner of ninth avenue here in New York. Logic starts around Midnight. If you come by, introduce yourself. I’ll have a necklace made of nuts on, and I’ll be the one spinnin’ from 9:00.

Gotta go!

Peace.

Dat’s cool, dj, nothing wrong with that. My favorite Bay Area DJ (Dutch, if you’re curious) carries his turntables and all his vinyl on the back of his lil’ motorcycle to all his gigs. Hardcore, man…

Wow, cool. I’ve only heard a little from DJ Logic but what I heard I liked. Congrats and good luck!
