What would be requisite for stocking and equipping a home bar?
Depends. Are you going to be entertaining strangers, or just people whose tastes you know? If you are just dealing with friends, then stock up on what they drink, with appropriate mixers and stuff. If strangers, then you need a lot more.
At the very least, you need glassware, plentiful ice, and garnishes. 
Beer!
And hookers!
And a bar!
Eh, forget the bar…

[li]Mixer (three piece metal kind or Boston shaker)[/li][li]A jigger (I love that word)[/li][li]Bar spoon[/li][li]Paring knife[/li][li]Bottle opener/corkscrew[/li][li]Ice bucket[/li][li]Tongs[/li][li]Bar rag[/li][li]Blender[/li][/ul]
You will also need several different types of glasses, such as:

[li]Vodka (get a mid-range kind for mixing, and if you want a high-end kind for drinking straight up)[/li][li]Gin (get a higher end kind, since most drinks with gin rely on the gin to be good)[/li][li]Blended whiskey for mixing[/li][li]A good single malt scotch[/li][li]Good brandy[/li][li]A couple types each fo red and white wines[/li][li]Rum [/li][li]Tequila[/li][li]Amaretto[/li][li]Vermouth[/li][li]Kahlua[/li][li]A few different typles of beer…or many types, depending on how much of a beer person you are[/li][/ul]

Obviously the list can be modified for indivual tastes, etc., but these pieces of hardware and software will make a WIDE variety of drinks.
