I moved in last year and the previous owners kindly removed their posters from the wall by the stairs before going. Unforunately, in doing so, they damaged the wallpaper behind, removing the surface in places. I’ve been unable to find replacement identical wallpaper, and I’m not about to redo the lot, so I need to cover it.
I’ve tried paintings, but they need to abut and don’t look good so close together.
The style of the rest of the house is restrained classical. There is something very hard behind the plaster.
I’d appreciate suggestions from the collective of something other than posters that will cover at least 75cm by 150cm, can be mounted at an angle of 45 degrees, and doesn’t look as if it’s obviously hiding something.
{talks to self} (Can it be…? They have found the fabled Diamond-Walled Apartment of Gærd’unu! The High Priest of my cult will be so pleased when I lure it from their grasp!)*
How about if you catch a really big fish?
(Good. Good! Let them perish fighting a vicious pike, and it shall be ours! Now, if we can only get there before that blasted S&M archeologist…)
Don’t fish, huh? How about an empty thingy-that-you-mount-fish-and-heads-of-lions-and-moose on, with an engraved plate saying “The One That Got Away”, and pretend it’s a joke?
(Blast! Shouldn’t have said that. Oh well. Back to faith-based cruelty in the neighbourhood.)
A series of smallish photographs or prints that fit the same theme may be mounted in matching frames with identical or coordinating mats and hung on the wall as a grouping. As there are so many choices for prints and photographs, it’s possible to find a set that would look well in any interior.
Another option, as alice said, would be to use a rug, tapestry, or other length of fabric as a wall hanging.
