Home escalator

I wnt to impress the babes with an escalator in my house.

Does ACME escalator company have standard sized units, or must a custom-made unit be designed for my swingin’ bachelor pad?

Oh, yeah…about how much will one cost?

According to their site, ACME Home Elevator makes stairlifts, home elevators, wheelchair lifts", and dumbwaiters. Sorry, no escalators.

Otis makes good escalators. Looking at their website, it seems like a 506 NCE models might work, and it looks like you could use a single phase 220V motor (some localities don’t allow three phase for residential.)

I doubt that escalator dimensions are standardized to the point where there is a “stock” height unit. This should be an advantage in your case. Have your architect contact the manufacturer. Same goes for the cost.

      • Escaltors cost a lot. There are no cheap ones available, anywhere.
  • A few years back I saw in an engineer’s manufacturer catalog, a company offering the “standard” (straight) shopping-mall style/height escalators for around $270,000 each.
  • Same catalog also another outfit that had hemispherical-shaped escalators (from the top, they looked like half the circumference of a circle) for around $550,000 each.
  • In the event that you’ve been saving your pennies, any engineering firm that does medium to large commercial projects should be able to get you one. - MC

What type of woman would be impressed by an escalator?

      • The type of woman that knows how much one costs. - MC
