Home ovulation prediction tests - good idea? Possibly TMI

And that’s part of her problem - she has a really simplistic view of infertility for a fertility specialist, little respect for the fertility medical profession, and little compassion comes across in her book for people who are really infertile. My RE had me bring in two months of charts to the first appointment - not charting yet? Send instructions on what they want to see (and yes, cervical fluid too) and set up an appointment for two months from now. And this was ten years ago. No reason to talk to you and start pumping you full of hormones and doing endometrial biopsies until you have two months of charts in hand.

(I know several infertile women who have read this book, and early in their infertility journey they love it - and later Toni just pisses them off.)

It took one of my friends 10 months to conceive her first child after going completely by the book (the good news is that she eventually did conceive, though). At one point, she told me that after yet another negative pregnancy test (with an excellent triphasic chart), she stood up, took the book, threw it at the wall, and screamed “You lie, you stupid motherf*cker!”.

(She was actually pregnant at the time, she just tested too early).

I have the book, and honestly decided that since I get excrutiating ovulation pains around the same time every month, I’d just go by those instead of trying to remember to take my temperature every morning after waking up. It ended up working for me, but the book has really helped my non-infertile friends. For my infertile friends, like you say, it just pisses them off.

Many thanks for your kind offer. We have only been trying fully since August 2006 and did get pregnant in December (really the first month of a proper cycle) and, even though we did have a miscarriage, it does show that we are fertile and putting everything in the right place at the right time! I don’t think we’ll worry about any fertility problems as yet and certainly not until we’re a year in the future and not having gotten lucky. But your offer is very kind and much appreciated.
