Home Remedies

Curious to know what home remedies folks on the board have experimented with. I’ve tried each of the following with varying degrees of success.

This is one of my favorite wintertime home remedies for the affliction of not being sufficiently tipsy. I can tell you from experience that it works like a charm, though sometimes it takes two or three.

Gargling with warm salt water when you have a cold or sore throat, it’s terribly old school, but it works a charm.

Ditto inhaling the steam from a mug of boiling water with a little Vick’s or Tiger bomb in it. Instant relief for a clogged sinus!

(My BP med precludes me from using most over the counter cold treatments, so these have been a real lifesaver for me!)

I remember having a very bad head cold in high school. The gym had a diving well which was very deep. I pushed myself to the bottom a few times and was fine. The pressure cleaned me out.

i’ve had great success with hot totties for colds, flu, hump day or whatever ales you.

If you add a tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey to your hot toddy, it makes a very soothing concoction for a sore throat.

To whiten teeth, swishing with hydrogen peroxide before bed works like a charm. You’ll start to see results in about a week, and it’s easier and cheaper than those new high-faluting specialty products.

Baking soda is my go-to for a lot things, but especially for upset stomachs and gas. Just a teaspoon dissolved in some warm water, chug, and you’ll belch a belch that will be the belchiest belch that ever belched a belch.

That with a teaspoon of Cuban honey in-between gargles as needed.
