I want to fix up some things in my house, but it would mean getting a part-time job to pay for it. Naturally, the thought occurred to me that, if I’m going to get another job, why not get one that involves an employee discount on the items I need most?
Any input/experiences in working in home stores like Lowe’s, Menards, etc? I don’t imagine they’re the most fun places to work, of course…I’m just curious about any discounts available to the lowly worker bee.

I’m sure it varies from chain to chain. I knew someone who was a cashier at Home Depot. She told me they didn’t get any employee discount, but got very generous stock options. I’m sure it’s different at Lowe’s and other places. Ask around.
