homebrewing bottling question

Has anybody out there come up with a practical PET reuseable bottle for bottling up the homebrew?

I’m getting might tired of bottles, and the keg option just doesn’t work for me (although if anyone has good suggestions I’ll take another look at kegs).

It would be great to have liter/quart bottles that can be washed and the cap screwed down every time I’ve got 5 gallons.

Here’s something you might be interested in. A Party Pig. I’m not a homebrewer, but there’s a homebrewing supply store in my neighborhood, and on Neighborhood Day, the owner was dispensing free beer (!) out of these.

I am not that thrilled with the chore of bottling day (today it is a belgian trippel that I am going to bottle without priming. Wo de Eiren and I prefer it still). I am sceptical of the PET as it is more difficult to clean (it is soft and easy to scratch). I will suffer through until I move to kegging.

What about Grolsch (swing top) bottles?

They have a ceramic flipdown stopper with a rubber seal. You can get replacement rubber seals over time.

I’ve used the party pigs-- pretty cool if you use them right.
DO buy the proprietary pump primer widget. You CAN use another pump, but it is more difficult, which is saying something.

I like my Party Pig. Handy, it is.

That was an interesting link.

Thanks for all of the replies. I like the swing bottles and have used them before. Grolsch bottles are a little small as I’d prefer the 22oz bottles. Maybe I’ll try Ikea to see if they have some swing tops. Otherwise, I’ll have to go on a grolsch hunt - difficult to find here.

Actually, one other question. Somehow my bottle caps are missing and I can’t get them in China. Anyone have an alternative? (I can mail order them but ends up being pretty expensive bottle caps that will take a while to get here).
