Hong Kong Dope Fest Part 2 (Hemlock, Abe and Jovan)

Guys, are we on this Friday 7th? (Abe I made a mistake in my e-mail - its Friday, not Saturday)

Jovan never got back to us on where we are having lunch.

Sorry about that…

If I remember correctly the options were western vs local. I haven’t had real Chinese food in ages and so if you guys don’t mind, I’d rather go for local.

Where and when do we meet?

Pacific Place (Admiralty, near Central) has a couple excellent Chinese restaurants if you are interested. I don’t recommend “traditional” spots like Luk Yee teahouse (I think that’s the name) near Lan Kwai Fong, because it can get very crowded and expensive, and Friday is a popular day for office lunches!

Are you looking for any particular district?

Luk Yee or the big goose place on Wellington St would be crowded.

What’s the trendy place in the basement at Pac Place? Or, next door, there’s a standard-issue Maxims-owned something-ese place. Pac Place is no problem for me.

I can also recommend the Peking Garden in the basement of Alexandra House - amazing hot & sour soup.

Since I work in Alexandra House that would be no problem for me at all. I’m usually not too keen on local food (my first experience with HK food was eating chicken’s feet and I’ve never really recovered), but the food there really is delicious. They use its menu on Cathay flights.

The restaurant down the bottom of Pacific Place I know of, but I’ve never been there.

Shall I book a table for 4 in my name at Peking Garden for 1 o’clock?

Jovan - will you need directions? You can ring me at work if you get lost…I’ll send you an e-mail with my contact details, if you wish.

There’s a Peking Garden restaurant that is just brilliant in Pacific Place (been going there for years). Actually, that and the restaurant next door are both trendy and good, but I would say that Peking Garden is one of the finest restaurants in the city (the one in PP, I have not tried the one in Alexandria house).

I’m leaving tomorrow and I probably won’t be able to read my mail until then.

So I guess this settles it for Peking Garden at Alexandra House, Friday 1 o’clock. I hope this is fine with everybody else.

I have some seemingly good maps, and I’ll ask for directions at the hotel. I shouldn’t have too much of a hard time finding the place. [sub]I think.[/sub]

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Peking Garden at Alexandra House, 1pm.

Jovan: If you’re at the Mandarin or Ritz Carlton, cross the road. Anywhere else, get on the MTR and go to Central. You can follow the signs to Alexandra House in the station and get to the restaurant without once seeing daylight. The train virtually takes you to your table.

Excellent. I shall book a table today.

See you all then.

OK, thanks, are you booking under Dave Stewart?
