Hopefully a simple soccer scoring question concerning extra time

I notice that goals are annotated by the minute they were scored in.
ex:
Renaldo (42).

Understood.
Each half always runs over because of stoppages.

Question. Assume first half with 2 minutes added for stoppage. A guy scores in what would be 45 +1 or to me the 46th minute. Is it listed as
Kaka(46) or Kaka(45+1) or Kaka(extra time)

I think the first guess is wrong because I would assume the 46 minute is technically the 1st minute of the second half.

If it is Kaka(46), then what do they do if someone then scores in the 1st minute of the 2nd half? The goals would look as if they were scored in the same minute.

It is generally listed as Kaka (45), or perhaps Kaka (45 + 1). Likewise: Kaka (90) or Kaka (90 + 1).

By the way “extra time” is the wrong term here. Extra time is the 30 minutes of time added to knockout games that are tied after normal time.

I figured I had that wrong. What’s the correct term for the time added due to stoppages of play? Injury time?

Generally “injury time” or “stoppage time”.

Can someone explain to me why the referee is the only person in the stadium who knows how much time is left in the game? In American football, once upon a time, the stadium clock was not official, and the referee kept the official time, but he also halted the game with 2 minutes left in each half to warn the players. Later on, the stadium clock was made official, and the referee has the authority to add or deduct the time on the clock to accurately reflect stoppages. Ditto (AFAIK) with basketball all over the world.

But in soccer, even the teams don’t know exactly how much time they have left. I see big electronic signs on the sidelines to show player substitutions, so soccer isn’t unfamiliar with technology. Why the deal with the clocks?

Goals in injury time are officially given as “45’+x” or “90’+x”, e.g. Donovan’s goal was officially recorded as 90’+1.

Re the clocks - I’m not sure other than “it just is”.

quite simply because there are several rules in soccer that are simply stuck in the past and the prez of FIFA likes it that way. I personally hate that referees aren’t held accountable for their bad calls, or at least not to the point where they have to explain them to anyone. They should implement a replay rule as well for major calls, like when it concerns goals.

Baseball is similar here in America. But in the last few years, reformers have made some inroads and the old guard has reluctantly made concessions to modern technology, so keep hope alive.

The rationale as I understand it is that currently exactly the same rules are in force whether at a World Cup match or a Sunday league game between a couple of pub teams. There is reluctance to have different rules (ie replays) which would obviously onlay apply at whatever level the cutoff is for being able to afford/implement the technology to support this.

Thanks (to all).
