Ronald Reagan really did know how to ride a horse properly. A skill no doubt acquired as part of his acting career at a time when Westerns were big. Clint Eastwood is not as skilled as Shatner, but is certainly better than Roy Moore and does what I’d consider an acceptable job, he at least has a good seat even if he is “noisy” on the reins. John Wayne, of course, could ride a horse.
Yes, those guys are all actors but they are also all Republicans and conservative.
I say Roy Moore sucks at horse riding because he sucks at horse-riding, his political views and/or other conduct is not part of my evaluation of his equestrian skills.
Unless he didn’t know that would happen. The guy has been riding horses to the polling place for years (decades?). It’s supposed to be a (family?) tradition. The asshole photographers and reporters would have known that, and planned to ambushed the riders at that location. You don’t like Moore. I don’t care about Moore, or his political career. OTOH, the horse looked to be in distress.

He should have had the sense to ride a proven horse. Or drive a car.
The problem wasn’t the horse, it was the ape occupying the saddle that was the problem.
And with a proper rider on her back, she’d handle it far better.
I don’t know jackshit about horses, but he’s flopping all over the placelike a ragdoll – the guy looks more like he’s riding a mechanical bull.
Also, maybe it’s just me, but he looks awfully heavy for that poor horse, or like it has a bit of a swayback?

They clearly both know what they’re about. Everyone including the horses are relaxed and comfortable.
The queen is in her 90’s but still goes riding regularly. This is her, out last Spring, with her head groom -

I was never a Reagan fan, but the man knew horses. The guy owned a ranch and trained his own rides. He’d be horrified at how that poor horse is being treated.

*I did read one theory. Moore, for reasons known only to him, wanted to present an image of being a manly man bravely controlling an unruly horse in front of a bunch of city slickers who would be impressed by his derring-do.
