I’m looking for a good horse-related board. I need a new fence charger for my electric fence - my old one was fried in the extreme weather TN had two nights ago. It’s about $100 for a new one at the TSC, and I’m unemployed and can’t easily afford that. I’m looking for a board with classifieds.

well, for classifieds you might try equine.com. I would also check out other farm supply stores like a farmer’s co-op or feed store (I’ve never found Tractor Supply to have good prices).

I’ve been trying to ask my nearest & dearest about this, but he’s been working … on our electric fence so I haven’t been able to catch him yet. I’ll try to corner him later. You know what might help with the responses? Pictures. Do you have any of your horses? In a semi-hijack: what kind do you have and all that good stuff?
Thanks for the ideas. I went to my local co-op today and they have an adequate charger for $80. It would have a 1 year guarantee, which beats the ebay option. It looks like for an equivilant charger on e-bay, it would be about $60 with shipping, with no guarantees.
thursday next - I have a TB gelding. I bought Irish as a yearling after I lost my Trakehner mare in foal - she had cancer and I babied her along for 10 and 1/2 months of her pregnancy and lost her just before we were planning on delivering the foal by C-section. I trained Irish myself, although I haven’t ridden him as much as I should recently. I don’t have farrier funds. Here’s a link with pictures of my farmhuse and Irish is further down.

Check for a local place to have it maintained. Mine got taken out by lightning and my home owner’s insurance paid to have it repaired.

Shasta - By deductible is greater than the amount of a new charger, so I won’t be making a claim on my insurance.
