Hosanna in the Highest? Priest has his own stash.

Sinner: Bless me Father, for I have sinned.

Priest: Hey, no problem dude.

Worshiper: Father, what’s the significance of the stations of the cross?

Priest: You put your weeeeeed in it.

Priest: Today’s sermon comes from the book of High Times. Like wow, I’m really buzzin’ today.

Priest: Where’d that alter boy go with those hosts? Man, I got the munchies severe.

Religion and drugs go great together.

One to two years in jail? Can’t he just say he’s doing it for religious purposes? Like the Native Americans and peyote? Why doesn’t that work for anyone else?

Last time I checked, there were no Christian ceremonies involving pot.

Well I know that.

I was just asking about the rationale. I’m sure that plenty of people do drugs for spiritual reasons. [Insert Hippie joke here]. How come it would be illegal to start The Church of Pot today when it’s already been established that other religions use drugs as a legitimate part of their practice? How can they allow it in one religion and forbid it in others?
Furthermore, different churches have different practices. Why can’t this church have drug-related ceremonies even if it isn’t an official Christian tradition?

And in an almost unrelated question:
Was the Catholic Church allowed to use wine during prohibition?

Grandfather clause, I believe… the religions that currently use peyote and any number of mind enhancing drugs are allowed to because they were before those drugs were made illegal. And also, unless my 9th grade history teacher was wrong, you can’t just join those religions in order to get the drugs… you have to be born into it.
