GBS is one of the complications of Zika. Are you in an endemic area?
Just think of all the cooties brewing up in the damp, dark recesses of the Jeep carpet! ![]()
You better give her the Beemer.
Thanks, Shodan. She’ll need to do intensive PT/rehab; fortunately, she is a workout freak and in great shape.
We’re in New Jersey and I believe there are Zika problems here. I read a brief from the CDC that wasn’t too informative; I’ll look for more info today.
Hi Gato: LOL!
Karma has been served: I left my sunroof open and windows cracked in the hospital lot yesterday. Fast, huge thunderstorm moved in and gave the Bimmer a nice interior wash-down.
Wifette is actually considering trading the Jeep in for a Mini Cooper. She was already having trouble getting in and out of the Wrangler (some back issues), so we’re going to check out the Cooper’s entry when she gets mobile-r.
I believe the universe is telling you that you need to get a boat.
The latest possible diagnoses for wifey, who remains hospitalized:
Her CFS has high protein and white blood cell counts, consistent with GB and probably a host of other things, including:
Mosquito-borne Zika virus caused Guillain-Barre > There has been an uptick in CDC reporting of Zika-caused GB in our New Jersey county.
Meningitis on its own or as the precursor to GB.
Or, WTF virus, pre-cursor to WTF Syndrome.
The infectious disease docs are coming in today, I have a slew of Lancet, CDC, and other med journal print-outs to discuss – I know how much docs love hearing all about patients’ InterWeb research! I am a doctor, just the wrong kind (but Ph.Ds in English shure can read info real good!)
So, there we are for today. I’m exhausted from driving about 80 miles a day back and forth and the horrible heat. The four dogs aren’t getting enough attention and are being bratty. I was going to dinner with friends tonight, but now need to hang out for the specialty docs. I’m taking the morning off to be a couch potato!
Glad they are doing something. What happened to good diagnosticians?
At least at the hospital…maybe, it will be the best thing. Send me some of whatever she’s having…I could use some painless days…mindless too.
