I’m thinking about going to the Red Bull Air Race in Spielberg in Austria at the end of October. It’s rather a long way to go from Aberdeen just for a day out, so I thought I’d make a week of it in Vienna. I’ve never been to Vienna and there’s masses to see there. I’d appreciate recommendations for a hotel in Vienna. Reasonably central so I don’t have to walk too far for the good stuff and 3 or 4 stars.
Is there a reasonable express train from Vienna to Spielberg? I’m probably clicking the wrong thing but it looks like there’s no rail service on the Sunday, and the Saturday service takes 3 hours - it’s 200 km away - so I guess I’d be overnighting in Spielberg, so hotel recommendations there would also be appreciated. I have found that they did put on a special train for the DTM race but whether that will be repeated is something I have not found out.
