I never have problems with hotmail either, and I can’t recall it having any ‘downtime’. I’m so deprived of spam that I whooped with glee when I discovered the Nigerian Scam Chainletter in my inbox one morning. 
Hotmail is not the worst with spam. I used to use Earthlink for my ISP back in the modem days. Never used the email or gave it to anyone. Then about a year after i was using it, i decided to use it as my main e-mail.

No joke, 4000 fucking advertisments. I canceled my account before it finished recieving them all.
The amount of spam you get often depends on what kind of username you pick. A username that is close to a common name or word with a couple of numbers tacked on the end tend to get spam no matter what, because some spammers just blindly send email to addresses using popular word/number combinations.
Every so often I get a bit of spam in my Hotmail account, but nowhere near enough to make me want to :slap: or :eek:
I’ve also never had problems trying to get into it, either :shrug:
Then again, I only use it as a secondary e-mail address, here being one of the places. Hmmm…maybe that’s why I don’t have any problems with it!

Exactly. That’s why I find Hotmail totally crapola and unuseable.
To be fair, on the highest level, I don’t get that much spam in my inbox - but I have had Nigerian letters. There is no logical reason how they are getting in, there is no way MsMaryamAbacha@mugu.com is in my contacts list.
And the other spam that you can’t get rid of is endless Hotmail Member Announcments. If it wasn’t for the fact that everyone in the office uses MSN Messenger to communicate with the Abu Dhabi office, I would let my account go idle.
My hotmail account is Heavily Advertised on my webpages and signups with boards and services. It’s two common words smushed together (doom and trout). Only junk mail I get is simply due to my having signed up for something silly like GameSpy stuff (not them particularly but similar places).
OTOH, my msn.com mail account that is used only for places that I KNOW will send me junk mail (like sharperimage) or require non freemail, well, it gets so much spam I just delete everything in it every few days. Ditto my one yahoo.com account that I made at one point, and my mother’s temporary yahoo.com account. Plus I love not having to open a webpage to get my mail, not like I get any anyway , and can just press the Magic Mail Button on my keyboard to pop up OE every day. Granted, it gives me “An unknown error has occurred” at times, but I think that’s an OE thing.
OTOOH, when I used mail.com, I cried. Literally. My mother uses it now and is sick to death of it. EXTREMELY SLOW, FULL OF CRAP MAIL, DOESN’T WORK WITH MOZILLA PROPERLY, etc. etc. she complains. And I don’t blame her. There’s been so many times she simply can’t access it due to them “upgrading” their damned servers for a week or so. I’d love to just up and murder the creators of mail.com.
