"Hotness" and Endemetriosis link: Worth Pursuing?

It’s not splitting nits in this case, it’s a rather important distinction. Diagnostic tools provide evidence that a disease is present, a risk factor is merely guidance about what to watch for and be concerned about. It is far less important whether someone is a precisely a pear or apple and worry about heart issues than actual heart monitor results. One is evidence, the other suspicion.

I know what a diagnostic tool is- the reason the distinction is not important because the point is whether or not there is an objective basis for this measure, not whether it is a risk factor or a diagnostic tool.

Ok, whatever. You’re saying that a doctor who doesn’t precisely measure hip/stomach/chest ratios is an idiot when deciding someone is an “apple” who should make lifestyle changes. Ok. I believe Jackmannii is a research physician, hopefully he can flesh out the importance of the differences because I get the impression you don’t want to hear it from me.

Moderator Warning

This type of post might be appropriate for the Pit, but it has absolutely no business in GQ. This is an official warning for jerkish behavior. Do not make posts like this again in GQ.

This is also a blatant attempt at attacking the user while technically attacking the post. Intentionally violating the spirit of the rules while technically staying within the written rules is also extremely jerkish, and is not something that we want anywhere on the SDMB. Do not do this again, in any forum.

Fortunately for you, the system only allows me to make one warning per post, so consider this one official warning for extremely jerkish behavior.

Moderator Action

While the OP does not seem to be intentionally misogynistic, it does basically boil down to “do hot chicks really get endemetriosis more often”, which is not a discussion that we want to have here on the SDMB. This thread is therefore closed.
