House: 4 days on the market...offers

So we listed the place out in Virginia on Friday. Nervously, we awaited the judgement of the market.

bites nails

Agent calls today. 25 people looked at the place over the weekend. She has a contract offer in hand.

Full price.
No closing costs on our end.

And another agent called her and told her he has a couple that might want to make an offer tomorrow morning.

So what if we gave a party and EVERYONE came?

Congrats! Isn’t it just GREAT when the real estate gods smile upon you favorably?

Everyone DOES come to your parties, JC.

I’m so glad for you guys.

Damn, dude. Impressive.

If you get a decent offer, take it. I had a couple decent offers early in my house-selling and decided to hold out for a better offer. WRONG. I held on to the house for another YEAR before I got another decent offer, and it was less than the originals. Lesson learned.

So, are you kicking yourself for not asking for a little more?

That’s wonderful. I hope all other loose ends tie up as easily.

Yay! What a relief that must be! Altho I’m bummed that I never got to attend one of your orgiastic gatherings. I think you moved deliberately to avoid having to invite me. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s great news, JC! And a bidding war for the old homestead would be even more fun.

Ah, the joys of life in the recession-proof D.C. Metro area.

My sister lives in N. Va. and is constantly telling me how hard and competitive life is there. This from someone who will never lose her job, gets a raise every year, has never worked without union protection, and will be taken care of for life when she retires. Plus, she’s never seen a flat housing market or a real recession.

Hardship is not defined as not being able to afford the Lexus your neighbors just got. </rant>

Anyone who thinks Northern Virginia is recession proof hasn’t lived there during the tech bust.

Maybe it was painful for some individuals, but I guarantee you the community did not suffer in any comparable way to other tech-heavy communities like San Jose, Seattle, Denver-Boulder, etc.
