House 5/1

I figured they had the helicopter for the day and did all the aerial shots.

Based on those pictures I think you’re right. Funny thing is, other people have told me that they also thought it was the Schuylkill (before hearing it from me).

Man, I would love to see Stephen Fry show up on House.

Yeah Princeton isn’t really all that close to Philadelphia. There are definitely rivers and lakes in that area that would suitable for rowing.

I didn’t recognize Princeton, since I’m not familiar with it. I knew that they were in Jersey and I thought that was the Schulkyll so I assumed they were near Philly. Plus, I think they’ve mentioned Philly once or twice.

I fell in love with Hugh after ABOF&L aired. For the longest time it seemed that Stephen Fry had parlayed his fame and comedic genius to greater acclaim, but Hugh has really latched on here in America. ABOF&L is out on DVD in the States now, if you like House you will love the show!

Foreman can’t leave, because watching Cameron and Chase alone will be unbearable.

I’m not sure about that; House is all about solving the puzzle. I’m not sure how much he cares about the patients actually living and dying.

He’s a little bit about proving that he solved the puzzle, too - and that involves the patient living.
But he’s not into the patient living for the patient’s benefit.

Me too. I saw an interview with Stephen Fry, and he said they did discuss him appearing in a *House *espisode, while he was in town filming his spots for Bones. But they couldn’t fit it in until they were done with the Tritter story arc, and by then Fry would no longer be available.

Holy crap! He was House pretty much from the very first instant!

And I love how apparently “having a rough time on set so I’m sorry for my appearance” Hugh Laurie became House’s signature look.

I agree the line is a little off-putting as is, but I also thought this was a joke about the night House airs on television, unless it’s preempted.

He was speaking with a British accent at the beginning and I don’t think he was complaining about a rough time on the set. My impression was that his life had been going badly, or maybe he had just had difficulties with traffic or his flight or something.

But when he started on the script then, yes, it was house all the way. I can see why they chose him. They must have loved his interpretation of the character, and his disheveled look.

Good catch, I think you’re right.

I’ve read about that audition. He supposedly recorded it in a bathroom while he was on site filming Flight of the Phoenix. I think he actually was having a rough time on that set. They were in the desert, sand got in everything, and I think the actors were all pretty miserable.

Ah, I see. I thought that Kokopilau meant some set that was specifically being used for House auditions. It didn’t make sense to me that he’d be having such a rough time from an audition. You’ve cleared that up for me. So apparently we can thank that desert set for House’s signature look.

That it is – one of my coworkers (bottom pic) was the coxswain for the U.S. Men’s Eight gold medal olympic team. After the games there was, of course, a lot of to-do around the office – not everyone has a coworker who’ll let you try on their olympic gold medal.

Anyway, after he came back, he had a video prepared showing everything he went through, and it began with his training on Lake Carnegie (our office is just north of Princeton).

I think you’re right - patients living is a positive side effect of House being right. Called himself a sociopath this episode, did he? Interesting.

ETA: You have all the interesting co-workers, Hal.

This is a direct result of Foreman telling Chase that Cameron must really want to be with Chase and he should go for it and be persistent. Chase is acting on that advice.

Since I didn’t care for the Chase/Cameron love thing in the first place, this is annoying to me, but makes sense in the context of the show.

Hmm, yes, I do remember something about Foreman thinking Cameron wouldn’t do anything without some emotion, so she must care about Chase?

I just caught the repeat of the one where House confronts his nemesis from school and Wilson tells him to get a hooker instead. I must not have known what I was looking at the first time I saw it, but at the end when House has hired a hooker who looked amazingly like a young Cuddy…
