House 11/13

A teenager who needs facial reconstruction also has a heart attack.
Double duty for the remaining hopefuls. I wonder who’s leaving tonight?

Does anyone know how the writers strike will be affecting this series? Also, was looking at gossip sites the other day (don’t ask) and saw that Hugh Laurie took emergency leave home to England, suffering from either overwork or depression, depending on which rag you believe. Hope he just went to see his family and he’s ok.

I also read - SPOILER ALERT -

The CIA doctor is only supposed to be in two episodes

I don’t know any details about the strike and this show yet.
Laurie has had bouts of depression for a number of years. I think he just went home for a bit to recharge.

Can we please make Cameron go away? Please?

I love Hugh Laurie. I have been a fan of his for years. But, unfortunately, if House goes on hiatus because of the writers’ strike I’m not really going to be that sorry.

I can’t put my finger on the problem with this season but it is just stinking out loud. House is as good as ever and Wilson seems to be getting a bit more screen time, so those are positives. I think it might be the ducklings. There is no real reason for them to be there. They are taking up screen time that could be better used for House, Wilson, and the POTW. Those three completed their three year fellowships it’s time for the ducklings to leave the nest and fly away. They are irritating and boring and they add nothing to the show, especially Cameron and Chase (IMNSHO).

Yes, I agree they should have cut off the ducklings and canned them from the show. I would guess, though, that the actors have long-term contracts.

IIRC, House has enough episode to go into January. It’s in pretty good shape.

As for the show, the camera crew got tired real fast.

I really liked the way they dealt with Sexy CIA Doctor. Hiring her was a stupid move - and the show admitted it was stupid, and had House admit it was stupid, and dealt with it.

This episode was a huge improvement from the past few weeks. It felt like a House episode.

What I liked:

House taking his crew on a walkabout. “Walking around looks good on camera. It gives the illusion the story’s moving forward.” A jab at people’s comments on shows with a lot of walking around in them.

Wilson’s outrageous lies about House on film. “Come to think of it, I think he was just tapping his foot and reaching for the toilet paper like he said.”

“What do you think of the bitch?”
“The bitch? She’s a bitch.”
“Why don’t you ask her out?”
“The bitch? She’s a bitch.”

Cameron’s absent-minded comment, “I love Doctor House,” and her attempts to backpedal.

“Where did you get those keys?”
“Blue, the janitor.”
“What?!!!”
“That’s his name.”
“His name’s Lou.”
“Tell him I owe him an apology.”

House’s comment about #13: “She’s beginning to look more and more ugly.”

The scene where Cuddy and House are watching the final cut of the documentary that was edited so House didn’t look like an ass.

I think the show’s taking off the water skis and backing away from the shark tank.

I took it as “Blew the janitor.” Definitely no comma.

That’s how I took it as well. cochrane’s version is much more clever.

In my defense, I just had the show on while I did other things. So, I was only 1/2 paying attention.

What can I say, I like it when shows make me feel on top of things. Last week, I was confused about why House hired the CIA doctor, because she isn’t that sharp, and she’s hot, but there are other hot doctors he didn’t hire. This week, House was confused about why he hired the CIA doctor, because she isn’t that sharp, and she’s hot, but there are other hot doctors he didn’t hire.

I like that kind of validation.

I was annoyed he ruled out Lyme disease merely based on the absence of the target rash. A diagnostician like House would know that the rash appears only in a percentage of the cases and the absence of one is not conclusive.

That was a yank-me-out of the show moment for me.

So is he keeping a couple of these new ducklings or what? How long are they going to drag out this selection process? It’s straining credibility. I am glad he fired Michael Michele. She was getting on my nerves. 13 is better looking and smarter anyway. She got this week’s PotW right, after all that drama with the plastics guy. The other 3 were just window dressing.

Arggh! I had a sinus headache all day and finally succumbed to sleep during House. So can anyone tell me what the kid’s problem was and did he get his surgery?

The closed captioning read: “Blue, the janitor.”

Best episode of the season, once they stopped showing the view through the black and white shaky camera.

I can’t believe Kumar is still around, but I’m glad. Having him man the defibrillator again was great.

Didn’t I see exactly the same thing (Lyme disease tick hidden under patient’s hair, to be revealed after shaving him) on Scrubs a couple of weeks ago?

And it really stretched credibility to show House ducking into MRI suites, operating rooms and exam rooms to talk privately to the ducklings. Certainly the woman who was undergoing the gynecological exam would not have accepted having House and the surgeon conduct a private conversation during her exam.

Kumar’s face when they tell him he gets to defib someone is classic. Loved this episode.

The plastic surgeon guy kept reminding me of Steve Carell, especially when he looked into the documentary camera.

To the ear it sounded like “Blew the janitor.” It was “Blue, the janitor” in the closed-captioning, which I assume came directly from the script. So it was one of those double entendres.

EDIT - sorry, Eleanor. I didn’t see your post at first glance.

I understood the word as “Blew” immediately. Good one!

I love it that House can just fire someone and then ask her out. He never even thinks of how it must feel to that person or how it looks to everyone else. Very consistent with his character and behavior.

I honestly don’t mind the Cottages that much, but it would be fine with me if Wilson had a lot more screen time.

I thought the scene with Cameron in front of the mirror practicing and Chase in the background odd.

At first I thought they were setting up House who would, despite his annoyance at the film crew, be narcissistic to watch the rushes. There was no pay of so I guess the slip up was a slip up and she really wanted to go to the crew to record her retraction. Sigh.
