Hey! Actual TV! Pretty cool.
Plus, once this is over I can clean out my mental Tivo for a few months.
I forgot there’s a new one!!! Woot!
The hell?
They all left. They can’t all leave. They were a great supporting cast!
There’d better be a damn good season opener this fall that mitigates this.
I just as soon they don’t… change is good…
Anyone notice his address was 221?
And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Now I wonder if there’s a pipe and a deerstalker somewhere in that apartment.
I’m with you on this one. The three of them left a sour taste in my mouth after this episode. Good riddance…although I’m sure they’ll be back.
I figure after 3 years they needed to shake up the dynamics a little to stay fresh. This gives House a whole new staff to pick on and shock. Old crew could no longer be shocked and were getting way too mouthy and independent.
Enjoyed the dialog w/patient’s husband over cigars.
What’s with the guitars? Totally lost that reference.
Well, I wasn’t expecting that, especially the firing of Chase. I did enjoy every other cast member coming into House’s office almost at once and demanding to know what the hell.
I almost expected Chase to come back at the end of the episode and mow everyone down with a machine gun.
About the guitars, Wilson commented that House had the same guitar he’d had since the eighth grade. I guess the new guitar was symbolic of House’s readiness for change.
How the hell did a Cuban even hear about House, anyway?
I’m not sure it refers to anything regarding Sherlock Holmes, but early on in the episode Dr. Cancerdoctorhousesfriend (forget his name) mentioned to house that house hates change. One of the pieces of evidence he offered was that House has had the same guitar since he was in Grade 7 or 8. I guess the new guitar is House saying to himself, “I best get used to change.”
After saying that, maybe the three won’t be back.
or what Pixiesnix said.
I agree.
I was getting really tired of the cottages. I think they did just about all they could do with them. Besides, weren’t they all on the way out anyway? I seem to remember that it was a three year fellowship and this would be the end of the three years.
House wasn’t stewing about it. He seemed to embrace the chance for change (driven home by the new guitar in the montage).
Hopefully, if there is a new cast, we won’t have to put up with another crush on House.
I’ll admit that the idea of a new staff of doctors for House to harass has its appeal – for the first few episodes anyway, their reactions to his pull-no-punches crotchetiness will be amusing if nothing else. All the same, I’ve been used to the old staff for the last three seasons. Although I don’t mind change, it’s just hard to get used to new faces. After – what is it, 100? – seasons of Law & Order I guess I should be used to it, though.
Well, he’s substituted Percodan for Cocaine, and a piano/guitar for a violin. I guess that Dr. Wilson is an adequate Watson. There isn’t any Moriarty to date, but that could just be illness/death/God rolled into one.
Maybe next season could see an Irene Adler come into play.
Can you really smoke cigars in hospitals? I guess if you’re House you can.
Aside from that, was the ep any good?
Rather disappointing, I’d say.
I was profoundly bored by this episode. I could not summon up one ounce of concern for the Cuban woman or her husband-- why was I supposed to care about them? Just because they tried like idiots to swim across the ocean to get to House? Did they even TRY going to Cuban doctors, or ANY other doctors? We don’t know. In fact, we don’t know anything about them, except that they’re Cubans, the wife is sick and likes to pray, and… they can swim. (Sort of.)
I’m kinda glad the ducklings are all gone. As long as they replace them with people who can act and the dialogue is still well-written, I’m good. However, I think the plot of this episode suffered for having this as an ace-in-the-hole… it’s like they just didn’t care about making the episode interesting or funny because they knew everybody’d be oh-so-shocked by the staff leaving. By the time it became clear they were all going to be gone, I was so indifferent to the episode in general I could barely manage a shrug.
I will say I enjoyed that small moment in which House paid Cuddy a genuine (if entirely physical), sarcasm-free compliment. And she thanked him. wiggles But that’s the fangirl in me.
