FINALLY! THANK GOD! I’ve been in dire need of ascerbic wit, my boss tries but he’s just no Gregory House. I’m also looking forward to seeing how the show goes in this new direction. Taj is on it and I hope he stays.
I almost choked when, after House started using the whiteboard and talking as if he still had his “team” and the janitor thought House was talking to him, House sat him down and started questioning him, then brought him to the patient’s room and called him “Dr. Buffer”. I was wondering how long he would get away with that.
And I agree that the guitar kidnapping was funny. Wilson denying knowing anything about it and then resumes reading his paper, with all the sections cut out of it.
What was that thing that he found in the bottom of the box and then went to Wilson with? It had wires. Was it the bridge of the guitar, with strings attached, or something? I thought it was a fake bomb at first.
The guitar looked fine later, though. Had he taken the bridge off some other guitar, or can they be repaired quickly? I don’t know anything about them.
“Oh. My. God!”
“I don’t negotiate with terrorists.” That was great stuff.
Also loved the beginning when House played a riff after every sentence out of Cuddy’s mouth.
So in six weeks, there will be four new ducklings?
I’m with y’all…great episode. I thought it was a lot stronger than the opener last season, which - even without the pain - was a little formularic. And, like everyone else, I loves me some Wilson, so anytime he gets more screen time (and laughs) I’m a happy camper.
I also dug the use of camera angles and whatnot (particularly the scene with House and Wilson driving to the patient’s place.) Seemed a little ‘fresher’ than last season.
I was surprised by the ending. The opening scene was a false clue - about the girl pretending to like star wars and lying about it, and then the common theme of medical mysteries coming down to “everybody lies”.
The look House gives to the janitor after he says “it might be lupus” is classic.
Can someone recap how his team left last season? We weren’t able to watch last season and my wife and I are lost. Were they promoted? Quit? Transferred?
Foreman gave his notice. The team had been treating a 14 year old leukemia patient who needed a bone-marrow transplant. Foreman obtained the marrow from the boy’s younger brother who was ill from a fungal infection and couldn’t be sedated. Foreman took the marrow samples despite the boy’s screams of agony. House approved of his decision, but Foreman decided he was becoming too much like House, willing to obtain results without regard to the patient.
Chase was fired in the season finale. House gave the reason as “you learned all you can from me, it’s time for a change”, but Chase believed it was because he raised his voice at House for agreeing with Foreman during the case they were working on in a transparent attempt at getting him to stay.
Cameron resigned, apparently because House fired Chase because he rose to Wilson’s challenge that he was “afraid of change.” She threw House’s reason for firing Chase back at him, saying, “I’ve learned all I can from you. It’s time to move on.”
Great episode! Although I knew what was going on as soon as the boyfriend mentioned the other woman who was killed in the accident. This scenario really happened a while back; I remember reading about it in the news. Two girls who were similar in appearance were in some sort of accident, and they were misidentified. One family buried the wrong girl, and the other family stayed at the wrong girl’s bedside for a couple of weeks, if I remember correctly.
Yeah, that was the bridge of the guitar in the box. It was actually bandaged up in the last scene. I’d kick Wilson’s ass for ruining a fine vintage guitar like that.
