House 5/29 season finale *SPOILERS*

By the by, whatever happened with the vegan flirt storyline? Was that a one-shot deal? Is she maybe one of the new ducklings?

And what’s with Cameron getting all up in Chase’s jock again when she’s been rejecting him for weeks? Was it 'cuz he was fired?

(cue organ music) The answers to these questions and more on the season premiere of General Housepital.

Sounds like you might have missed the first 10 or 15 minutes of the episode. They weren’t really trying to swim to the U.S. They had a boat that conked out on them. And there was a bit of talk about the doctors in Cuba and their abilities and access to medical equipment. There was even a suitcase that got lost at sea, in the opening, that contained the woman’s medical records from Cuba.

Jeeze Cameron, why don’t you just yank House’s dick for good measure as you stroll out the door? No, really, you should have.

Next season on House: a new crop of codependents!

what i’ve gathered about house is not that he is afraid of change (in his professional life - the conclusions must fit the symptoms, after all,) but change for the sake of change. house has reached a point where he has (as far as he can see) really figured out his underlings, and is reaching for a new challenge. even if he can’t fully admit, or understand it, for himself… he & his colleagues have become too close, too predictable, to fully challenge his abilities.

in his personal life, however, he is only, with much prodding, taking the first baby steps in the same direction.

the overlap of the personal & professional, however, leave him muddled somewhere in between.

is he really ready to grow as a diagnostician before he grows more as a person? or the other way around? has he already reached a peak in one part of his being? has he reached a plateau in his over-all self, or can he grow somewhere else if only some circumstances are slightly different? or is there just some point where the totality of being is averaged, and any change beyond that only upsets the whole cart?

and will another season really answer these questions, or even attempt to do so… or should we just stop now, and admire the riddle as far more fascinating than the answer could ever be?
or will the sweeps episodes be so great we can never think of missing them, even if the rest of the series blows chunks?

I find it hard to believe that they would all go at once like this. Guess I’ll find out for sure in the fall, though.

“Help, I’m trapped inside a monitor!” He does that squeaky voice pretty well.

As far as I, the non guitarist, could tell, the new guitar was identical to the old one.

Was there a difference?

Has anyone heard anything about the cast? No rumors made it out? (He could just hire the three people from the airplane episode. I liked the substitute Cottages)

That, we do know. When they were being rescued, he had a huge ass file of medical records on him that the Coast Guard needed to leave behind. They had exhausted all available medical help in Cuba.

I assume his 8th grade guitar was a $50-100 guitar and the new one was $1000+, and yes, you can definitely hear a difference between a cheap and a quality guitar.

Yep to the Cuban medical help. Even House says “One thing Castro can do is look good in green. The second thing is to train doctors. They would’ve tried antibiotics, etc. They don’t have scanning equipment.”

Plus, this one came tuned and ready to play.

I’m not 100% sure all the ducklings are gone. But, if they’re looking for replacements, I wonder if the resident(?) / med student (?) in the group that Cuddy was touring around who argued with him about Botox will be Cameron II.

“Your legs look great in the glow of the security lights”? House is hot and all but that leaves a little something to be desired. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and I meant to say, woo hoo! A new cast of underlings would be a nice change.

Yeah, my husband complained about that. “He isn’t going to tune it?!”

I liked the episode, and I think it would be great if they started over with three new ducklings in the fall. Maybe the original three can pop in to visit occasionally.

I don’t think the med student or the vegan would qualify for a position on House’s team. Foreman, Cameron and Chase were all fully qualified specialist MDs before they came to work with House.

I like how House makes random comments about the women: “You’re wearing lipstick,” and “Your legs look nice in the glow of the security light”. Makes you realize that he is constantly assessing people, and it’s just the occasional thought that slips out almost involuntarily.

I’m sorry - I meant “were there visual cues to show me that this new guitar was over $1000, because I didn’t see those.” Obviously, you get better sound out of a better guitar.

But if he got the same guitar, just a newer version, than that’s not really change - just the appearance of change (which may be the extent of the step he’s ready to take right now).

I thought I heard that Foreman was going to remain on the show but in a different capacity, I don’t know anything about the other two. It would be cool though to see Foreman get his own team at the hospital and get a spinoff show, with the two shows working in tandem.

I for one think that this is the end of the ducklings as regulars and hopefully we get to see a new cast. I would love to see the dorky kid from the class House taught come in full time and see how he handles House’s antics.

Sad that the season is over :frowning:

I never quite understood what was going on with the woman’s heart. She had a congenital malformation – three, instead of two, ostia descending from the aorta, if I heard correctly. I didn’t understand how that accounted for the remarkable situation of her being conscious while in full arrest, and her heart later spontaneously restarting when she was taken off bypass.

It looks like both House and Wilson are medical doctors who occasionally perform surgery. Does that really happen in hospitals?

Does it seem like House is gradually softening up? At least, he seems to be using less sarcasm with his minions. Maybe it’s just not fun anymore.

He also said something about what priests pray for, then stopped and said, “Oh, wait a minute…That one actually works.” I’m almost afraid to think of what he was implying.

I for one will welcome our new underlings…but I’ll miss Chase. Liked the accent a lot.

I assumed that the Priests would be praying for cute, young altar boys.

Please, please make the minions really be gone. I have never really been able to discern any personality in any of them, beyond the fact that they’re bitchy and whiny at the same time. What this show needs, IMO, is characters that can get under House’s skin, but in a different way from Wilson. House’s character has been in quite a rut all season, and I don’t think he can’t evolve without a lot more tension than he’s been subjected to. Little shits running around saying “I don’t like you,” “I don’t like him,” “I don’t like her,” “I don’t like myself,” just don’t cut it.

Interestingly, three of the students (interns?) with Cuddy had speaking roles in the exchange with House standing on the balcony, when he said anyone helping him would get an A. He gave one of them a B+ (after an initial F) and told her to send him a resume. Were they being introduced to us for a reason, what with script economy and all that?

ETA: Sorry. Missed the reference above to one of them, but still…

Aside: did House slip with his American accent? Do any Americans say DAY-ity rather than DEE-ity?
