House 5/29 season finale *SPOILERS*

One medical question -

The POTW’s heart had stopped, and was on a bypass for quite a while… then it restarted… but if it was ‘bypassed’ what was it pumping to wake the patient up? Seems if she could’ve been awake/talking, she could’ve been doing that on the bypass as well.

But, then, not a medical proffesional am I.

I was wondering that too.

Yes, he said, “Little boys pray for <something> and priests pray for…”

I think that was a great season ender. At first I was convinced that all three of them will be back, but maybe they really are doing a change. At least one of them will return, though - someone’s got to show the newbies the ropes of working under House.

What I want to know is, did he buy the new guitar for himself, or did someone else (read: Wilson or Foreman) get it for him?

I’m American, and I’ve always pronounced it (and generally heard it) as DAY-ity.

The medicine in this episode was really bad, according to the polite dissent guy. He says heart bypass machines are used for a few hours during heart surgery, not to keep someone alive like that. And she would have still been hooked up to the bypass machine, even after it was turned off. He says her heart restarting on its own was plain silly.

(Sorry if everyone is tired of me linking to his site in every House thread).

Be funny if Cuddy hired Foreman and the other two as his assistants to be a team competing with House and whomever he hires. Then each week there could be a race to see which team gets the right diagnosis, or which kills the patient first.

Despite House’s claim that he does not give a hoot about patients, just about curing the disease, Wilson keeps believing otherwise. Which is correct?

Look again sometime…his door has a “B” on it.

Seconded.

I’ve very rarely heard it as DEE-ity and then only on TV.

Dammit, I come in here to make snarky comments and they’re all made.

<grumble grumble>

I, too, thought that the chick doctor who argue with House about the diagnosis might be back next season.

I concur with everyone else that fresh blood would be great. Though the men lusted after Cameron, her outfits bugged the shit out of me. It was Little House on the Prairie meets Mr. Rogers. And the whole Tuesday thing with Chase was just stupid.

Honestly, I tune in for Hugh Laurie. Cuddy and Wilson are good, but the ducklings were just meh. I’d love to see some real egos on the show, people who could challenge House.

I’m American and I’ve always heard and said DEE-ity. Does this mean I have to move to Europe? Perhaps it’s regional in the U.S.?

I’ve always heard and pronounced it “dee-i-tee.” Laurie’s pronunciation sounded odd to my ears. I checked several online dictionaries (with audio pronunciations) and they confirm it as the preferred way to pronounce it.

Yes. Get out if you are going to pronounce things funny.

Probably. I’m from NYC.

(so I’m right and the rest of youse guys are wrong).

I’ve been in CA my whole life and always heard it as DEE-ity too.

I’ve never heard DAY-ity anywhere in the South. And I have more than 50 years of hearing experience.

Just to add my own ultra-important datapoint, not that I’ve paid particular attention to this issue, but: north New Jersey background, and surprised to hear anything other than DAY-ity.

I don’t think there’s any realistic chance of the med student who House gave a "B+’ to coming on as a full member of his team. As an earlier poster said, all three of House’s team members had already done two year residencies followed by four years in sub-specialty training, a person still in med school just wouldn’t be qualified.

(In the episode where Chase and Foreman are digging up a dead cat, Foreman makes a remark about doing 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, two years of residency, and 4 years of sub-specialty training to dig up a dead cat.)

I’m also suspicious about Foreman/Chase/Cameron not coming back. House was renewed for a fourth season sometime in February, I think we’d have heard something in the entertainment news if one of the long-time cast members was leaving for good. I know for certain I’ve read an article in which Omar Epps says he’ll be back for season four.

What are the chances that Stephen Fry will be cast as one of the new underlings? Or better as a Moriarty character!

Too bad Neil Patrick Harris is busy. I’d love to see House & Doogie together (I somethings think House IS Doogie, after working in medicine has made him bitter)

I saw David Morse (as the cop this season) as the show’s Moriarty.
