house is 600 meters from a dragway

Sounds like you made your decision, but the other thing I’d think of is how your own potential purchasers would feel too. You may be ok with it, and you may intend to live out your days there, but you can’t know what life is going to bring you. Something like this is inevitably going to limit your pool of prospective buyers and that may affect the ease of selling and the price, if you ever need to.

All good points - but presumably those same conditions allowed him to purchase the home for less than he would have paid for a similar home not near the airport. It seems reasonable to expect price appreciation for the metropolitan area to be generally the same, regardless of location.

Having looked at the map, I think it’s possible that the noise may not be quite as bad as some here are predicting. However, it’s a little hard to tell, because it’s not clear on the satellite image which is the house in question. (The pindrop for the address shows a point on the street that is fully wooded, with no sign of a house.)

First, 114th street is at the far end of the track from the starting line (where all the support buildings are). Second, there is an Interstate between the track and the house, which seems to be raised above the level of the surrounding terrain. Third, there is quite a bit of heavily wooded area behind the drag strip and between it and the house.

All of these factors would tend to reduce the noise at the house. Maybe not enough: you’d have to go to the property during a race to be sure. And if they operate between fall and spring, it would probably be a lot louder then than when foliage is full in the summer

But it might not be all that bad.

As I stated above, I live 4 times the distance in question and I have a raised interstate between me and the lake used for unlimited racing. I can clearly hear the races at that distance. But what has also been mentioned is the probability of top fuelers racing on a regular basis. A couple of times a year is not a deal breaker.
