House MD 4/11

Two episodes in a row with stars from my childhood. Last week Lance Guest played the dad, this week it was Mackenzie Astin.

How did they get so old?

Can anyone identify the piano music used in the last few minutes of the ep?
Also, I sure wish they’d release a soundtrack, because they’ve chosen some pretty good music.

Jonesing for some Hava Nagila, are you?

How prevalent is it for doctors when presented with a list of symptoms that can only be some obscure syndrom to totally discount the syndrom because ‘there have only been 200 cases of it ever’…

:smack:

Obviously someone has to get the dsamned syndrom for it to exist, and why not someone who happens to have all the symptoms for syndrom.

I know if I were to present with whatever the symptoms are for sicle cell anemia, no matter HOW freaking pale and pasty I am, I would figure there was a <ahem> nigger in the woodpile of my ancestory, and if I end up with Erdheim-Chester symptoms … I would rather hope that someone might psosibly consider that I might have it …

Hmmmm This rare disease is characterized by a symmetrical sclerosis at the diametaphyseal portions of the lower extremities with additional extraskeletal involvement. It is rare with less than 100 cases reported in the literature. Radiographic studies reveal a bilateral, patchy or diffuse increase in density, coarsened trabecular pattern, sclerosis, and cortical thickening mainly in the metaphyses with minor changes or sparing of the epiphyses. Many internal organs and tissue sites, including the kidney and retroperitoneum, lung, pericardium, skin, orbit, and brain may occur. The symptoms and clinical manifestations depend upon the organ involved. Infiltration of the pituitary stalk may lead to diabetes insipidus while involvement of the lungs may lead to diffuse pulmonary fibrosis.

one of the patients discussed at this page near as I can figure out seemed to have diabetes, pain in the long bones of his legs, problems with lungs and kidneys …

Gee - I have COPD, I am diabetic, I have chronic kidney problems, and I have recurrent pain in the long bones of my legs … where is House when I need him
