Probably the best episode of the series simply because it was so far from the norm. Loved how he outright called Carmen Electra a shitty actor in front of her.
Great episode. I knew that one of the 3 leg cases would end up being him but I liked finding out more about him.
I love “House,” even though it is often formulaic and predictable. Wow, I wish they would stray from their formula more frequently. This episode was such a treat! Bet it gets an Emmy nomination.
Wow… I agree… best show of the series. I just loved the jumping around from patient to patient, having Cameron, Chase, and Foreman jump in and out (especially muzzling the dog!), and having the students jump in and out. That was great. Especially since it was so far from the norm of not only House but probably any show on TV today. Just a very fun episode, and I admit I got taken in by the ‘twist’. That definetly was a different way to understand House better… I thought, like most, that it would be the case of his ex-wife’s husband… but that’s next week it seems.
Wonderful episode all around, and having Carmen Electra as ‘eye candy’ was just classic.
I bet next week we find out that House’s ex’s decision led exactly to their relationship ending.
I agree, brilliant episode. And Cuddy and House do have a past–she was his doctor. Wow.
I had the same thought.
What’s strange about that (to me, anyway) was in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Cuddy) said that in the character background that SHE created (as a part of getting into character) was that Cuddy and House had a former sexual relationship.
House is already pretty good, but if they broke from formula like this in every episode, this would be the best thing on TV by far. Hope this is a sign of things to come.
I’ve only seen about six or eight episodes so far, having come late to the series, but I’m glad for summer reruns. Great show tonight. I liked the different scenarios and the tie-in with House’s own painful history.
I loved how House had written “NOT THIS LEG EITHER” to go along with “NOT THIS LEG” on the other leg. That’s determination!
I think it would be cool if House had to teach that class occasionally. It would be a nice change of pace.
Maybe they’ll have one a season… just as a recurring treat ;).
Still can’t believe House was that twit on…
Interesting to note that, as a patient, House didn’t lie once.
So, House was a morose bastard even before the blood clot. Hmmmm…
I bet House didn’t break it off with Stacey because of her decision to allow them to operate on his leg. I bet she broke it off because he put her in that kind of position. I think she decided she couldn’t live with someone who was stubborn to the point of risking his life.
Great episode! The way he casually said “I love you” just before he went unconscious.
Great episode! Fresh Air radio listeners or those (like me) who catch it online should enjoy the segment yesterday when Terry had guests connected with the show. Interesting insights, including the task of writing into a formula as well as how to slip the naughty bits past the censors.
Great episode. It would be nice if this signified a change in the show but breaking totally from formula might turn it into a soap.
I guess it needs the anchor of the Patient of the week mystery. So was that the season closer or are there a few more to come?

BRILLIANT!

I figured all three were the patient of the week. Sure enough, right at 8:15, Farmer Bob purt near died. Then at 6:30, House found out he was gonna die if he didn’t have the surgery. Then at 6:45, House got the surgery.
And there’s one more next week.
Good thing time is not a construct there.
Well CSI is still going strong and I don’t think you’ll find a more formulaic show ;). In the end, it is hard to do much else with the structure of House without, as you said, turn it into a soap.
Then again, it IS only the first season and most shows don’t hit their stride yet.
