I just noticed that House is on Monday this week (2/20/06) instead of Tuesday.
Woah…thanks for the tip…I’d have probably missed it. Monday has zero good shows, so we generally don’t even turn the TV on on Mondays.
My TiVo knows all, and has been prepared for days!
That’s because AI goes to two hours on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Cripes. Thanks, man. Totally would’ve missed it.
I don’t suppose anyone knows of a TV show tracking program for Windows, eh?
Heh…I take back my “I’d have probably missed it” comment. I checked the schedule and found that my DVR already had it in the que as well (which is why I’m surfing the dope and not watching TV as we speak).
In regards to tonight’s episode, I totally predicted that ending. I’m not sure exactly when, but it was before House was in the room with that dude with too much estrogen…I think.
I read this thread 25 minutes before it started and I still forgot to watch it. :smack:

I watched tonight’s episode and figured it out when someone said the bit about undersized ovaries.
This was my first time watching this show, by the way. Fox drew me in with the commercial, and I don’t watch anything on Mondays so I thought I’d give it a whirl. I don’t think I’ll be watching the show again. House was incredibly annoying. I’m surprised he doesn’t get slugged on a daily basis. He’s an asshole and it seems as though no one–colleagues, patients, passers-by–calls him on it.
Fox is good at this, by the way. I watched an episode of Bones because of a commercial. I didn’t realize how crappy that show was until the second time I watched it.
Finally, I’m not here to be mean to House fans or ruin the thread. I’m just curious if others watched the show for the first time and, if so, what they thought about it.
I just came here to start a thread on this…
Well, I have to wait almost another to see it. Looks like strong stuff–not so much with the patient, but with House’s deterioration.
Insert “hour” after “another.”
I’m deteriorating in regard to my nouns…They’re breaking down.
Whaddaya mean? EVERYBODY calls him on it. He just ignores them.
Could have fooled me, seems like you did a good job of bashing our man House.
In all seriousness though, my roommates and I were discussing the fact that he wouldn’t get past the first episode without being sued into oblivion. As for him being annoying, the more you watch the show, the more his sarcasm and acerbic personality grow on you and reveal all the more about him. Tonight wasn’t the greatest of episodes but from the sounds of it - not even the best episode would keep you coming back for more. So, happy hunting on the other newcomers.
It’s my first time watching a full episode, and only because I mistakenly thought it was Tuesday and was expecting “American Idol.” :wally
It’s not something I’d drop everything to watch (only “Lost” gets that honor) but the performances are really good. As far as House being likeable, I think the whole point-slash-challenge of the show is to have a totally unlikeable hero - or, how big of a bastard can he be for the viewers to still root for him? I’m not much interested in Dr. House’s pain or his painkiller addiction or some ex-lover of his, but Mr. Laurie is good at conveying that this guy is a good doctor, right most of the time, does not suffer fools gladly, and is way more fun to watch than any other character on the show.
It’s something I’d probably stay on if I run across it while channel-flipping. But if I never see an episode again, I won’t miss it.
Is it just me, or does it seem that almost every character is developing, except Cameron?? At first I liked her because she felt like a bleeding heart liberal kindred spirit. But now, she only comes across as sanctimonious and willfully naive. And dear Bog, she annoys the ever loving shit out of me, although I certainly wouldn’t mind looking like that.
Can we replace her with anyone else?
Oh, and Wilson grows on me more and more each episode. Actually, he may be quickly moving into my favorite character. Plus so far, he’s had the best line (in my humble opinion)… In the episode where Cameron ( ::: blech ::: ) finally nails Chase ( ::: purr ::: ), she’s still in guilt mode over her deceased husband and the best friend of his she wanted to sleep with because they’d been there for one another. Wilson tells her she should’ve, but she replies that she wouldn’t have been able to live with herself.
He then says something like; “You’d be surprised what you can learn to live with.” That resonates so true.
Of cause, I’d have to strangle House. I also wish there was more Cuddy. She’s gorgeous and she rocks.
They can’t develop her. When they do it’ll have to be in House’s direction, which must require some degree of reciprocation on his end, and he’s far too caught up with the whole Stacy thing right now.
If House and Cameron get together, I will quit this show. Cameron bugs me and the whole boss/subordinate thing is overplayed. Well I might not quit watching but I will bitch at my TV if it happens.
I can’t hate House. He’s such an ass but I still love the character.
And I love Wilson too. I basically like everyone but Cameron.
Ugh on another 2-week hiatus.
Not the first, maybe the third time for me. I don’t know why I don’t watch regularly, because Tuesday’s a slow night, except for Nova.
I like House’s quick wit and sarcasm, and Hugh Laurie is great. But I’d like it better if one of the other characters stood out in some way, or were able to match him, in barbs or brilliance. Maybe that’s happened. (?)
I love Wilson too. I felt awful for him when House whacked him in the leg!
I’m going to try to find out who was singing the song they had in the background at the start and end of this episode…
