So Claire giving the company to the lady she’d fired from last season–is this just a complete plot reset? Does it go nowhere else? It seemed out of nowhere, completely implausible, seemed to serve no purpose for any character nor for the story as a whole, and I see that the actress playing the pregnant character (to whom the company was given) appears no more in the series.
But I don’t find online anyone complaining about the move, so this makes me wonder if I’m missing something.
But it sure felt like the writers were just like, “eh, we don’t like this story anymore, let’s just magic it away.”
What do you think?
The story throughout the US House of Cards is haphazard, and the planning ability of the main characters make you wonder if they could organize a child’s birthday party.
So, yes, subplots are abandoned with abandon and characters will suddenly try to undo what they’ve been desperately trying to accomplish in the previous several episodes.
I do prefer the UK version. The US one is good, but you have to understand that consistency isn’t the writers strong point.
It’s underdeveloped to be sure, but I don’t think it’s entirely implausible. Claire probably doesn’t actually care about that NPO all that much – she just wants to be able to say “I built that.” She has higher ambitions, and presumably she saw giving away the foundation as a way to lessen the bad blood towards her that would be floating out there.
Not particularly sharp writing, but not terrifically difficult to fanwank.
